Doesn't hurt to have some good low risk, high potential folks in the minors. I like the signing.

Would have rather seen them go after Nick Johnson to have the potential left handed bat.

LOL...Johnson signed with the NNY back in DEC for like 5.5 Mill.
The Cubs management may have been stupid for a few years now...but at least they have avoided the luxury tax.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

I'm aware of that, but if they were going to look for another bat there were better options available.

the cubs wanted a center fielder, a right handed corner outfielder to platoon with Kosuke, a right handed reliever, and a cheap veteran corner infielder backup. Nick Johnson doesnt fit any of that. Not a CF, Not a corner outfielder, not a pitcher and not a cheap infielder. Nick Johnson is a DH imo. Marlon Byrd, Xavier Nady, and Chad Tracy/Kevin Millar fill those needs other than still need a reliever. Get Calero or Park and i'll say it's a pretty decent offseason

this signing doesn't matter. the guy hit what? .230 last season? it's just another 'worst case scenario' signing.

It will matter. Just watch. Were the cubbies. Expect the worse.
