Christopherson confirms that he has mono but still can play

Just got done interviewing players after practice and Scott Christopherson confirmed to the media that he has mono.

Having said that, the doctors keep clearing him to play so there is no risk to make things any worse for him, health wise.

"I don't have a lot of energy a lot of days," Christopherson said. "I haven't been able to practice as much as I'd like to or as much as the other guys have."

Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register asked Christopherson that with a normal roster, if he'd be sitting out.

The answer..."No. It was one of those things that had been going on since before the Duke game. I just felt like, really sick for a couple of weeks but I thought I was fighting through a cold. The day before the Kansas game, we finally decided to go into the Kansas game to get it checked out. They said that I had mono. They decided that with where my body is at that I would be able to play if I wanted to. I would just be sick for a while."

This really doesn't change anything in my opinion. We knew that he was sick. Now, we just know what it is.

Geeze - can Coach catch a break this season ?#? I really feel bad with all the stuff that has been out of his control.

On a positive note, looks like CC just got his marching orders.

This past week was one of the tougher weeks he has had in terms of energy...Just no gas in the tank.

Any chance we see Colvin starting?

Do they move Scotty back to the bench now and start Colvin? Do you think Mac has been waiting to pull the trigger on such a move until the time that Colvin's suspension was supposed to end?

That's what it looked like saturday. He normally keeps his guy in front of him. Still, great job of him to hit his 2 huge free throws late in the game on an empty tank.

As long as Christopherson will not be allowed to kiss any of the other players we should be ok.

mono is no joke. It really surprises me he's able to continue playing (not for risk of further injury like a ruptured spleen) but the lack of energy and exhaustion.

Yes but don't you think there is a difference between fighting off a cold and mono? I guess thinking someone is sick is a lot better than knowing someone might not get over it until after the season...kinda sucks.

Just goes back to my belief this program is just completly snake bit...not really anyone's fault we just simply can not get anything to go our way. You've got to have a little luck at a program like ISU and if we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all.

Keeping a close eye on that...any other illiness or inflaming of the spleen and he's done for awhile.
