The Eve of the Eve of Signing day

Iowa State Commit List for 2010

Above is the current commitment list from Rivals. com. What I want to know is the following:

    1. Who will make the biggest impact during their career on Offense? Defense?
    2. Which of the freshmen have the best chance of playing next year?
    3. Who has the biggest impact next year?

    Lets get some discussion going.

    1. Offense - Tom Farniok (having a center for more than a year will do wonders for the offensive line)
Defense - T.J. McCullough (I see him as a good safety in the future)
    2. Javis West (can anyone say punt returner)
    3. Rony Nelson (we need to get after the QB)

Re: The Eve of the Eve of Signing day

    Offense-
I think that Chris Young could have a big impact because he isn't the biggest guy out there but he has the speed to break away from defenders.

    Defense-
Rony Nelson- He's got the speed to get to the Qb coming off the edge, i think we will surprise some people this year with our defense this year, we're becoming more athletic and as a overall unit.

Interesting tidbit...Albert Gary being signed as a WR not a RB.

With that in mind, I think that Jarvis West redshirts. Let him get either more speed or more weight or both.

Re: The Eve of the Eve of Signing day

What is the big deal about how a player is signed? If we sign a player as a WR, but then move him to DB does it really matter. Its nice to know what position these players are destined for, but is there any ramafactions for moving a player to a different position then what he signed on for.

a lot of people were concerned that with the signing of 3 running backs in this class the staff must not like what we have in house.

I think that it shows that they know that they need more recievers who can actually get open and move with the ball.

no immediate ramifications at all. The only thing I can think of is keeping the player in question on the roster after such a move. If you are telling a recruit you are recruiting him for x position and then put him at y position once he arrives at school he may not be happy.

This could be a very likely scenario now. However I still think Jarvis West gets a shot at kick/punt returner. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Re: The Eve of the Eve of Signing day

Anybody have any info on Creekmur? Is he going to play basketball for sure and if so, where, or is there still a chance he could put on a Cyclone football uniform?

Latest info I have on him is Arizona State is expressing a lot of interest in him for football. He had an official visit two weekends ago and they offered.

I'm on board with this. We're starting to be overloaded at RB, and WR has been a position that needs to up its production.

I think Gary could be a hell of a slot receiver. A Percy Harvin/Wes Welker type out there.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

I only saw Creekmur in (1) game, Championship. I thought he looked very good. He's a very accurate passer. Derby looked athletic, but I'm not sure he can pass?

I would have offered him a schooly, ACCURATE PASSERS are worth their weight in GOLD!!!!!
