    it was only Colorado....

We had just about lost to arguably the worst team in the conference, that team had a 1-8 record on the road....That lone win was against DII opponent, Chaminade...Iowa State team came out playing so flat and uninterested, down by, if my memory serves correctly, 18-4.....We were down 6 coming out of halftime, within a minute and a half, they nearly double the lead....up 11 at the 18:30 mark....and we had 21 turnovers to colorado's 4....This win was the ugliest i've ever seen by this school...struggling to beat a perennial bottom-feeder.....People, more than likely, going to come onto this thread to bash these views because it was a "win"...I mean if we start thinking good times are coming again, with 2 wins against 2 of the weakest big 12 schools....I mean I am a cyclone through and through, just not delusional after "should-wins"...This team is would get run out of the gym against Eustachy's 2001-2002 team....Tyray Pearson and Jared Homan would show what its like to be a physical, imposing presence, and Jake Sullivan would shoot circles around this team....

If me saying a win is a win is bashing anything, then I think I need to bash a lot more things. I'm fine with the idea of about 20-25 ugly wins in one season ;)
Not sure my heart could take it, but right now we need to take everything we can get.

Down 18-4 and down for most of the game we managed to put it together.

The problem in this game was turnovers, we managed to do a lot of things right despite 21 turnovers in this game. I think that's a positive. Cut down the turnovers and this probably would have been an fairly easy 10 point win.

On the flip side we only forced Colorado into 4 turnovers.

    Re: it was only Colorado....

When presented with two opposing viewpoints ("huge win" vs. "ugly win against the worst team in the conference"), the truth is usually found somewhere in the middle.

This isn't your normal bottom-feeder Colorado team. They are actually a pretty decent team - much better than in previous years. However, they aren't a great team by any stretch, especially when their leading scorer goes down early.

The positive is that we overcame a large deficit in both halves and managed to find a way to win, especially when two key players (Gilstrap and Christopherson) had very difficult nights, thanks to terrific games by Brackins, Hamilton, and Colvin.

The negative is that we barely won a game that, at the beginning of this season, everybody had marked down as a relatively easy win.

So go ahead an pee on everyone's Wheaties if you must, but most of realize that last night's game isn't cause for a huge celebration.

Colorado is improving greatly under their new head coach and they WILL break their road losing streak sooner or later, thankfully it won't be against us this year.

to top it off, CU played 95% of the game without it's best player.

I don't think people would say this was an ugly win if we scored more 3 pointers.

to top it off, CU played 95% of the game without it's best player. But this year, I don't mind barely beating the bottom teams in the conference since the conference it pretty good 1-12. Now if we lose or win close to schools like Indiana, Penn State, and Iowa, then I would be more alarmed.

CU doesn't look that bad guys. They beat Baylor and have lost a lot of close ones. That being said, we have so much more talent than they do I think five of our guys could have come off the playground courts and stuck it to them without practice...

The way that the Buffs play the game, they are a tough match-up for a lot of teams. They played KU close if I remember right. Their offense is tough to defend. The win wasn't pretty but an ugly win is better than a good loss...

They must be cheating then... Right? Isn't that the only way to improve?

This. No easy wins in this conference.

Colorado has played some real good teams very tough. They weren't that patsy we saw last year, although that game was a lot of fun.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
