    16 walk-ons spring sem.

Probably old news, but didn't realize we have 16 walkons starting the spring semester. Nice to see this part of ISU FB get rollling again. Can always pick up a good one with this recruiting channel...see Jesse Smith. Would all 16 be considered a preferred like Jesse was?

Also, anyone hearing anything about the new Scholly guys (4) and how they are doing so far?

    Yes you are wrong, lo.

A preferred walkon is someone who will get invited to 2 a days, per NCAA rules you can only have 105 players in camp for 2 a days and of those 105, 88 is the max for scholarship guys. If a walkon is not in the 105 then he reports to practice the first day of school. There is no cap on the numbers of players on the team just during 2 a days.

I thought 85 was the scholly limit. Besides, it wouldn't make any sense for preferred walk-ons to start in spring. Most high school seniors don't graduate until May.

Could be a preferred walk-on transfer from a JUCO, like Iowa Central for example.

You are correct on the scholarships, I hit the wrong key.

    Re: 16 walk-ons spring sem.

Always hate hearing how well Jesse did as a walk on. He would have gotten a scholarship offer, but had to walk on because of a little off field festivity he got caught doing in high school. Not knocking him one bit because he's a freakin stud who did great things here, but shouldn't be considered an over acheiving walk on.

He was still a find. I am pretty sure he had no other D1 offers and was on the bubble to get a scholarship before he got in trouble.

Maybe you can decipher from looking at the roster list. Several guys are listed without numbers. See link below.
