How much is this worth and how far back do you go? It's mentioned a lot on talk radio when talking about coaching vacancies. Texas WBB is a top program because they won a NC in 1985? Arkansas is better than A&M because why? Kentucky is a better program than Florida because of Rudolph Rupp (according to ESPN radio)? And, what difference does it make? The flip side of this issue is the lack of "tradition" being offered as a reason why good players will never go to a school without a history. It seems to me the best team is the one with the best coach who convinces the best players to come and play - today.
“We’ve got a pretty good football conference, and we’ve got a pretty good conference overall. We’re still walking around with our heads held high and our chest out, about that.” Paul Rhoads
