No. 22/18 Cyclones Finally Get Best of No. 11/12 Oklahoma

AMES, Iowa – The No. 22/18 Iowa State women’s basketball team won its fourth consecutive Big 12 contest and its second straight against Top 25 teams with a 63-56 victory over No. 11/12 Oklahoma Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum. The win was the first over the Sooners in seven tries for ISU and the first for the ISU seniors.

The Cyclones got out to a 12-point lead in the first half and withstood an Oklahoma scoring flurry in the second half to hold off the Sooners. With the win, Iowa State improved to 16-3 overall and 4-2 in the Big 12, putting ISU third in the league standings. Oklahoma fell to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Great effort by the twister sisters and great game plan on defense
Everyone needs to make it out to a home game..
I dont want to hear "womens basketball is boring"
this is not boring basketball to watch

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Congrats women! Maybe I should have gotten those tourney tickets when they sent them out to season ticket holders.

Tonight was not a very pretty game. Lots of fouls, and neither team shot very well.

I hear what you are saying, but I'm gonna go with:

upset win by a young team against top a 15 team for the first time in seven tries == pretty...

That's an understatement in the first half, and an overstatement in the second half. We won and I thought the officiating sucked ***.

I'm bumping this thread because the front page needs something more encouraging to look at

    Amen to that!

Thought this from the quotes on cyclones.com was priceless:

Sherri Coale after not being asked a question postgame
I got one. Why didn't we guard Lacey or Bolte in the first half? Anybody got an answer for that? Because I promise we did talk about it and practice it.

The Iowa media was stunned by her good looks and Midwestern charm. I too, was taken away by being in the presence of Sherri Coale.
