Call-In Show... No Need for Point Guard?

Did I hear that right? Did Coach McDermott say we don't have need at PG right now as far as recruiting is concerned? Wow!

Re: Call-In Show... No Need for Point Guard?

Well for this recruiting class we don't. The next one we will because we will have to replace DG when he graduates. We also have Buck and Colvin who are both young along with the walking on from Ames (I don't know his name). Just because you may think our guards are not good does not mean we can go out and find one right now. Very few guards can come in and start at any BCS program and perform well, these guards are usually the 5 star guys.

We do have Colvin and he's only a freshmen. Plus, I guess we have two scholarships wrapped up in Garrett and Buckley.

Colvin is still young and learning, Buckley we do not know yet until he can get more minutes, like 15-20 to see what he is fully capable of.

Colvin is only a freshman and is only going to get better as time goes on. Now we may have a problem if one of Buckley or Colvin transfers, which could be likely.

We also have a JUCO guard coming in.

This right here. I would much rather have 2 guys with PG ability in the backcourt ahead of 2 guys with SG ability at those positions.

Until having all those point guards means you don't have a shooting guard, small forward, power forward, or center....

Unless you think we should be shooting for a 5 pointguard team
