    State of Iowa, MBB

On the positive side - all four bigs have changed coaches in the past year. I see ISU as having an edge in-state with high school coaches and players. There are some university affiliations you can't overcome, but, I think McDermott is the man in men's basketball in the state of Iowa. I think we have the best incoming class.

With wrestling, WBB, new direction in football and the new AD's, ISU is poised to be the dominant U in the state. It seems to have been an incredibly quick turnaround.

To be fair, the turnaround hasn't really happened yet, but it appears to be under way. We haven't actually succeeded at MBB or FB yet, and Wrestling won the Big XII but still got vaporized by Iowa.

    We must have patience.

Maybe I'm "old school" but there are only two "big" programs in Iowa...ISU and the school in Iowa City.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

wouldn't you rather have a Big 12 title and a National Runner-Up trophy over a win against Iowa?

I take that in every sport, every year.

The excitement and expectations are there, now it's time to execute in the various sports. We know in football ISU is probably 2-3 yrs away, and a .500 season in '07 would probably be overachieving. MBB is on the rise, based on returning talent and incoming players, and I think that team has the greatest potential for success soonest, along with wrestling. Let's not forget the lady gymnasts, they have really turned it on in the last few years not only in the Big12, but nationally.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

The MVC's improvement including McD's success at UNI and relative weakness in EIU and ISU has made for the "big four" language. I agree that it is temporary. My main point is that out of this pack ISU should emerge as the dominant member. When McD got here we were pathetic in terms of personnel and attitude. His recruiting and the meltdown in Iowa City will, I expect, result in a much faster climb to dominance than we might have earlier hoped.
