I don't believe Marcus is playing anywhere at the moment. He played in Puerto Rico early last year (2009). Last I heard, he was dealing with knee trouble that has plagued him throughout his career.

    Re: Where did Fizer go?

Fizer's a perfect example why a player should have stayed in school. He never did anything in the NBA and if he'd stuck around he at least would have owned multiple Big 12 records and a national championship ring. I don't know if he got his degree, but I'm sure in retrospect that wouldn't be a bad thing at this point in his life either. Money isn't everything.

Ya... because I'm sure you would turn down millions of dollars too.

To wait one year for it and have an opportunity to leave a legacy like he could have had, yeah I would have passed. Different strokes for different folks. I know some people with tons of money and their miserable. Attitudes like yours is what got this country in the shape it is today. Look at the seven deadly sins and you'll find greed right in there.

    Re: Where did Fizer go?

Are you nuts? That was his chance...didn't work out probably the way he wanted in the long run but how many ISU BB players have been lottery picks? Great decision at the right time. He was a great college player.

    Re: Where did Fizer go?

Fizer made over 12 million in his first 5 years in the NBA, if he was smart with his money he is set for life. So I would have to agree he made the right choice. I understand life is not about money, but to be able to set yourself and your family up in 5 years? Not sure many sane people that I know would turn that down.

He would have been the first player picked in the following year anyway. A lot of players made money in the long run for their accomplishments in college who had terrible NBA careers..Christian Laetner (SP), Danny Manning are good examples. Ask anyone outside the ISU fan base who Marcus Fizer is and they'll most likely not have a clue. Put a national championship on your resume and your set for life. Some things you can't put a price tag on. Tell Collins on Saturday he's nuts for coming back to KU. Some people just have different priorities in life. Not big on Lucca's decision right now either, and some day he'll look back on it and regret it for sure. Like I said earlier, money isn't everyting.

Ask anyone who a majority of college basketball players are and they won't have a clue. I don't see your point.

Ask anyone who Christian Laettner or Danny Manning is and most will know. You answered my point with your post. I think I'm having a discussion with 20 year olds right now so I think I'll stop now because you all don't have a clue. Fizer had the money no matter what, but you can't put a price on something special like being the Big 12's all time scoring record or a national championship. He ****** away an opportunity to have something special that you can't put a dollar figure on. Ask Craig why he stuck around. He gets it.

One more year at Iowa State would probably have meant one less year in the NBA, considering his knee problems. And very few college players get NBA-type money before getting to the NBA.

    Re: Where did Fizer go?

And what happens if Fizer comes back and destroys his knee and ends his career during his next season of college basketball.

If the chance at 12 million is there you take it. You don't risk it for some national championship. True, you can't put a price tag on winning a national championship, but winning national championships doesn't pay with bills as well as 12 million does.
