    Frank Martin hitting player???

I watched this over and over when it happenned in the Missouri game and wondered how in the hell he hasn't been disciplined for it with all of the major football coaches getting fired for doing less than this...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r50bfPYK66c]YouTube - Kansas State coach Frank Martin hits Chris Merriewether[/ame]

PS---for a guy that is supposedly a jerk and a bad coach, every single player supported his actions in saying "he was just trying to motivate us." He looks like a mobster---probably told his players he'd put a hit out on 'em or something...

    Re: Frank Martin hitting player???

He didn't receive any disipline for it because it didn't warrant any action. That "hit" was about as bad as Alford "hitting" Brody Boyd like 6 years ago.

I guess if we can't beat Frank Martin we may as well call him names and try to degrade him.

Name one coach that was fired for "doing less than this."

This was a regionally televised game during a time out after a Mizzou run---he had to know there would be cameras on him. I just look at what the football coaches have been fired for and this seems like a more public/bonehead/poor representation of the university---worse than anything that Leach or Mangino ever did...

    I beg to differ.

Martin has demonstrated that he is an excellent head college basketball coach.

Apparently you have no idea what Mangino did to his players.

He is a good coach, but that doesn't have anything to do with him being or not being a ticking time bomb. After watching a couple of KSU games, he looks like he could absolutely kill somebody. I don't think I could make eye contact with him when he's ******, without crapping my pants.

Yeah, same here, and I never even thought twice about it. You play a physical sport and coaches do physical things to get you pumped or get your head in the game. I loved all my coaches and they did things like this all the time. Things like this should be a non-issue. The Leach situation, however, may be a different story.

    Re: Frank Martin hitting player???

The player that got hit said it was no big deal and that he loved Martin. When K-State hired him I thought it was a total joke just to keep their recruits. But as a KU fan I think there is a very good chance they beat us in Manhattan again and that game in Allen has me seriously worried. If he had a history of doing the wrong things to his players stuff would have come out. Instead it seems like his players really respect him. He's turned out to be a great hire.

    Re: Frank Martin hitting player???

Martin apologized right after the game. The "hit" was obviously something motivational not something to be taken as punishment. I don't have a problem with that. No harm caused.

Martin may be a mobster though. That could definitely happen. Have you heard him talk?

It was like Knight when he popped that kid in the chin at Tech. He was just trying to get the kid to pick his head up and look at him. People are too sensitive.

Seems to me he has real passion for the game, his team and players, and he shows it. There's nothing wrong with that. I like it when coaches get fired up!

Delonte Hill is worth the $400,000 he is getting. Martin can coach. No doubt about it. I want to see how well he does when Hill takes a HC job somewhere. It will happen at some point.
