    This Weekend's Weather

Personally I am tired of all the coach bashing and player bashing so I looked at the weather models. There is a nice sized low that is winding up off the coast of Washington and Oregon with the jet stream coming in off of California bringing in a fair amount of moister from the Pacific. Add all that into the moisture that it could pick up from the gulf and depending on it's track we could see another quarter to half inch of ice on Saturday depending on temperature. Then Sunday it will probably turn to snow as the low moves to the east of us.

Hopefully ku gets stuck on the way up here...

Last I heard it was supposed to be in the 40's. Oh well.

    Re: This Weekend's Weather

How is it going to be ice in the 40's?

Ah. Lovely. Just saw that the projected temp dropped again. 39 now.

Why is it that forecasts always get worse the closer you get to the forecasted day?

The computer models get much better data on storms once they come on shore and get over all the continental U.S. weather sensors. Weather ballon readings help as well.

Another reason is that the short range computer models (SREF for example) are much more detailed than the med to long range models.

    Re: This Weekend's Weather

Ed Wilson said last night we could get 1-2 inches of rain which could lead to some flooding since there is no where for it to go right now with the snow and ice already on the ground

    Re: This Weekend's Weather

Enough of the coach bashing and player bashing, let's get back to the weatherman bashing, enough with this "more ice" business.

I don't understand the animosity shown towards wxman1 here... I enjoy his weather discussions.

The latest forecasts are predicting freezing rain Friday night into Saturday morning, before switching to rain during the day as temperatures warm up....

Too many people are high strung around here.

    Re: This Weekend's Weather

At least 1 model has a significant snowstorm for areas west of I-35 again due to the rain transitioning to snow quicker than other models expect.

    Re: This Weekend's Weather

I am no longer in meteorology, just too lazy to change my name. Just a hobbyist now I guess.

Friday night could be interesting depending on temp, Saturday will depend on temp as well but will most likely be a rain event.

Is a "rain event" different from just regular rain? Are there tickets available, and if so where might they be available for purchase?
