    Another College BB Coach Fired

Heath was fired after five seasons at Arkansas after losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. Whoever coaches Arkansas next season will inherit plenty of talent. The Razorbacks had no seniors on this season's roster. Guard Patrick Beverley was named SEC newcomer of the year. They play in a great venue. Another team for EIU to compete against in hiring a new head BB coach.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

    speaking of coaching vacancies...

Stan Heath just got fired yesterday at Arkansas. Once again, Arkansas' no. 1 target is Gellespie from A&M.

I got a little chuckle out of their 'possibilites' with Tim Floyd being named...yeah, like that's gonna happen.

You mean you wouldn't leave the beach to go to AR?

Tim Floyd has it too good. He's not going anywhere. Shows how desparate folks are to get a decent coach.

Stan Heath had a pretty good rep. before he went to Ark. Missed the NCAA this year, and out the door. SEC was really tough this year. Iowa could do worse hiring someone else, but Heath will be percieved as damaged goods.

He didn't miss the NCAA's this year, they were a 12 seed and lost to USC in the first round. They had 21 wins and made the SEC tourney final.

I keep seeing the rumor that Gillispie has agreed to go to Arky, but I just don't see why he would do that. Arkansas was a powerhouse 15 years ago, but they aren't now.

When did this happen?!? Patton to NIU

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Another College BB Coach Fired

    A&M says Gillespie stays...and gets a raise to $2 mill a year:
Texas A&M basketball coach Billy Gillispie will remain head coach of the basketball program he has turned into a national power, three high-ranking officials close to and within the A&M system have confirmed.
Gillispie apparently has not officially confirmed to athletic director Bill Byrne or the regents that he will accept a new contract that will pay him in the neighborhood of $2 million a year, including guarantees added to the deal that runs through 2012. But regents and athletic department officials feel confident the new deal, and construction on the new A&M basketball facility scheduled to begin Monday, are the guarantees Gillispie was pursuing.
"The fence will go up (at the construction site) and they'll get it rolling," one source said of the 50,000-square-foot, $20 million facility that will include practice areas for men's and women's basketball, offices and training areas.
Remember when it was a big deal when we were paying Eustachy over a million?

I remember hearing this on the radio very soon after the Big12 tournament was over. I recall thinking it was so quick that it had to have been arranged before the Buff's last game.
