    Re: Staiger quits: McDermott Q&A

Really have to feel bad for Mac and the team in this situation. Came out of nowhere...very bad luck...again (unfortunately). Maybe this will bring the team closer together, but I thought they were starting to look good for Big 12 play. Hope Scotty C steps up.

...and with that I'm celebrating my 1000 post! Hey, can't balme me for looking at positives.

    Re: Staiger quits: McDermott Q&A

Obviously, the staff felt Lucca is a better player than Christopherson but to be honest. I've been wanting SC to get more time all year. As much as I hate to see this for depth I think Scott is a better player than Lucca. I really do.

And I don't care what anyone says. Pull the suspension on Colvin. And not just because we need him but because these players have worked to hard to see their season, and for some, thier last season ruined so our coach can make a point.

Completely agree, save for the depth concerns, I have wanted to see SC playing more than Lucca, better D, shoots when necessary, creates for others with dribble penetration.

At least now I won't have to get angry at Lucca for standing around at both ends of the floor. He needs to get back to Europe where that brand of ball is acceptable!

Scotty's minutes are not going to go up that much, probably from 22 to 30. Buck's minutes are going to skyrocket. This is his chance to shine. He needs to make the most of it.

Good point. Buckley has been under utilized this year. So it's not like we need to stretch minutes out of the same people. Buckley is basically going to go from 1-2 minutes per game to 20 per game. He's fits into the system from day 1 and he's been practicing already for more minutes.

Based on what I've seen of Buckley, although he's got a decent shot and drive, I think he'll just be expected to help with ball control and passing on the offensive side. For defense he is 100% better than Lucca's which is a big +. So replacing Lucca with Scotty and Buckley I think is break even at worse. I think the teams' defensive gaps are larger than their offensive gaps... thus the potential for this to be a positive.

Where I think we have concerns is if we get a game time injury. I think depth can sometimes hurt chemistry and consistency but sure is nice when it comes to injury. From that perspective, depth has helped this year as we are down 3-4 players and still have 7 players that I think belong in a Big 12 uniform. So the depth was a big help but is now gone. We can't sustain another injury or player turnover.

Hope we now see improved chemistry and consistency.

We do know Buck can handle the ball better than Lucca and he can hit 3s.

    1. I would not be too surprised if Colvin sees the court before Feb,.
    2. Flights can be scheduled to Europe last minute. I've had to do that for work before. This time of year they might not be too expensive.
