    Reason #496 Mediacom bites

Customers Still Having Problems With Mediacom E-Mail - WHO

paraphrasing ... "until we get our issues worked out internally, perhaps our clients should use a more stable email service like Gmail or Yahoo".

Really? That's why I'm paying $50 or whatever a month for service? To use somebody else?

Why are you using mchsi anyway? TERRIBLE EMAIL. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. Get Google's Gmail, its much nicer, more storage, and you can manage all of your email accounts from the one gmail account. It's very nice. Here's some good articles for your switch over.

i finally bit the bullet and went away from mediacom and going to qwest for phone/internet and hopefully dtv for TV. I had to trim a tree, so hopefully that will open up my line of sight. Mediacom ultimately too expensive, and the phone service is too unpredictable. too many outages, having to reset the modem, etc.

What does Mediacom e-mail offer that Gmail or Yahoo doesn't?

It sucks people in to using their email service for name recognition. BLAH. I hate Mediacom so much, but I get a discount with them, thus I stay. Internet is pretty quick though! 10mb/s is nice.

I'd like to get there too. Have similar line of sight issues. Need to get somebody there and eval my setup.

Already moved maybe 90% of my email to my Google account. My wife hasn't yet, however (mediacom setup pre-dates Gmail).

Never had much issue with it prior to this update. All kinds of Russian women suddenly want to talk to me now....

What's wrong with the email? Mine seems to be working as far as I can tell.

Read the link about consolidating your email accounts into Gmail. It's very helpful when dealing with multiple email accounts. I have my work, personal and like 4 other dummy gmail accounts linked all into my one gmail. It's very nice the way it manages it.

Corporations that host their own email. Google Apps has pretty much made this obsolete now.

In about 5 minutes you could open a Gmail or Yahoo account for free and setup your Mediacom mail to automatically forward to your new account. For that effort you will never have to log into your Mediacom account again. EVER.
