    Sports Illustrated Article

An interesting article by Seth Davis on which teams' non-conf schedules hurt/helped their chances for The Dance. Some posters have been talking about how bad ISU's SOS is, but mysteriously, they were not on the list. It could be that Seth does not consider them a bubble team at this point. That's fair, I guess. Or maybe their SOS is not that bad. Their losses to teams that either are ranked or have been this season (assuming UNI cracks the Top 25 today) should not hurt them. They will need a winning record in conference though.

The SOS wasn't bad it's just that we lost to the good ones. Opportunity lost. If we had beaten UNI and NW things would be tremendously different.

I agree that those two games would really have helped our cause. In fact, my guess is that there would be a lot less animosity toward McD if those were wins. But I think that we will have beaten some quality teams if we wind up with a 9-7 reg conf record. Hopefully that happens, and hopefully that'll get us in. Especially if the nonconf teams we lost to continue to improve their stock.

9-7 in conference will not get us in with the way our non-conference shook out. The only way 9-7 gets us in is if we put together a run in the Big XII tournament.

    Re: Sports Illustrated Article

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagee. If we are 9-7, I don't think it matters what our non-conf looked like. Not There are just too many good teams and if we have 9 wins in the BIG XII, I we will have plenty of quality wins. If we get 9 wins, I don't see how our RPI could be ranked below 40. We have 4 more games agains top 5 rpi's with 2 on the road. That only leaves 3 games to lose and 9 to win. There's only 2 rpi "non-quality" teams left in the big XII. and we only have 3 games against those teams.

I just don't see how 8 more wins come againts inferior competition. at least 4 of those will have to be against top 50 teams and an 1 or 2 will have to come against top 25. By rpi definition and committee standards Houston is currently a quality win. There are also no "bad losses" either. That is another consideration from the committee.

I agree a 9-7 conferene record gets us in. I don't think we will have a 9-7 record, but here's hoping.

Agree with this....no way we get in with just 9 wins in conference. Without any quality wins out of conference we will need 10 or 11 wins in conference and some luck to get in.

You know guys, the Big XII conference is at least the second strongest (3 teams in the Top 10), and any team with a 9-7 record, no bad losses, and 20 wins should get in. Some are saying that the Houston win is a quality win. Is this true?
