Without a pointgaurd like tinsley they wouldn't have been able to get the ball to Fizer in good enough position for him to dominate consistently

    Re: Fizer vs. Tinsley

I would take Tinsley.... If Tinsley was playing on this team, you wouldn't hear all the complaining about Brackins not getting the ball deep. You wouldn't have missed layup after missed layup that DG puts up. You would have a clear leader on the floor.

The only thing I hated about Tinsley was his character. There was a slight rumor of him point shaving his sr year against Hampton and a couple other games. He really never showed anything character wise to not believe it.

seems to be the problem we have now. we don't have an extremely talented guard to complement our big man. DG is ok, but there is about a dozen better guards in the big XII this year alone

    Re: Fizer vs. Tinsley

Tinsley won two big 12 championships, Fizer one. Before Tinsley arrived, we didn't even make the tournament. Both great players. But its kind of like having a great receiver with out a guy that can throw the ball....Of course it took both Fizer and Tinsley to make the Elite 8 and that is the most important point in my view.

If equal, in college, I say take the guard.

JT. Fizer was a hoss out there, but the team didn't do a thing until Tinsley came along.

    Re: Fizer vs. Tinsley

    Easy one for me... Tinsley.

As someone else said, he ran the show. PG is the most important position on the team. A good PG makes everyone else on the team better. He sets the table and creates everything offensively.

I'd also take Hornacek over Grayer too, but that's just me. PG is too important.

    Re: Fizer vs. Tinsley

In college ball, the guard play is more important the post play, imho. Tinsley's ability to breakdown his defender off the dribble, penetrate the lane, beat any type of press, and create opportunities for his teammates put tremendous pressure on the opposing defenses.

Bob Huggins, the Cincinnati coach, said they feared Tinsley over Fizer when preparing for ISU. It probably didn't hurt that they had K Martin to match up with Fizer.

Fizer dominated everyone he played in his junior year, except Kenyon Martin from Cinncinnati. After Kenyon Martin broke his leg, Fizer was the most dominate player in the post season. My only complaint on Fizer was he only averaged 7 rpg. He should have easily averaged over 10 rebounds.

If I had to pick one, I would take Tinsley (by a nose).

    Re: Fizer vs. Tinsley

I know some might disagree but I think Fizer might possibly be the most dominant player we ever had at ISU. His last season he was a man playing amongst boys.
