    Projector, sound and XBox 360

I think this will be a simple question, but I couldn't get it to work.

Last night, I was using our projector (Dell 2300 MP) to put the XBox picture up on the wall. I couldn't get the sound to work, though. I was using the cord that came with the 360, and the sound cable doesn't seem to fit the projector.

Any thoughts? How do I get the sound to work on this thing?

Re: Projector, sound and XBox 360

Are they just standard AV cables (red and white) for the 360, and what do the sound inputs on the projector look like?

Re: Projector, sound and XBox 360

Depending on how nice of a projector you have: if you are using component cables for the video make sure the white and red cables are hooked up for the sound as well. IMO it is best to hook the 360 directly to another sound reciever, such as surround sound or a stereo as opposed to trying to get sound to come through a projector.

Just using the component thing that came with the 360 right now. I'd really like to just have the sound come through the TV, and then project the image, but I'm not sure it'll set up for that.

We don't have any stereo or surround sound equipment, otherwise.

I take it that this would require more equipment to work properly, then?

By component cables, are you talking the ones with 3 video and two audio, or just yellow video, and red/white audio? What does the video and sound inputs on your tv look like?

I'm talking the cheap component cables: red, white, and yellow.

We use the HDMI on the TV. If I could use my VGA or S-Video ports on my TV to output to the projector, we'd be in business.

Projectors don't have sound capabilities. At leats none that I have seen. You basically have 2 choices that I can think of

#1 Buy an A/V reciever and speakers

#2 Run the audio from the Xbox to another source in the room like a TV and play the audio through those speakers.

Re: Projector, sound and XBox 360

We do this with Wii and DVD players sometimes when we camp in the summer

Wii, LCD Projector, RCA Cables from Wii to Projector including the Yellow for video, Red/White for Audio in to Projector, 1/8 Mini Plug from Projector to an Ipod Speaker that has a 1/8 Mini Plug Aux in.

It works quite well. Good luck.
