    Leno/Conan comparison

I know a couple people you don't see a problem with the way Conan is being treated. I was trying to think of a way to explain to people how Conan is getting screwed in a different way. I came up with this:

Mack Brown (Leno) promises Will Muschamp (Conan) that he can have the job when he retires. Brown (Leno) retires after years of running a good program, and Muschamp (Conan) inherits the program after patiently waiting. Muschamp leads the program to the acceptable Cotton Bowl, a good bowl for his first year. Texas then decides that the Cotton Bowl isn't good enough and negotiates behind Muschamp's back to bring back Brown so they can get back into BCS bowls. However, Muschamp wasn't given enough time to build the program HIS WAY, and is left out in the cold to find another job at a different school!

While I agree with you this doesn't do Conan justice. You would have to say that Mack then starts coaching an intramural team and actually recruits a couple of the high 4 star and 5 star guys that would have otherwise been on Muschamps team. That does him justice.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

    Re: Leno/Conan comparison

You forgot the part where the Texas boosters forced Brown/Leno out of the job when he didn't want to leave in the first place.

However, he should have stood his ground at that time instead of after the fact.

    Re: Leno/Conan comparison

They both had multi-year contracts for their shows. Both were getting their times moved. While I agree Conan got the short end of the stick, that's on NBC, not Leno. If NBC wasn't willing to deal with the reduced ratings for the 9/10 o'clock slot, they should have let Leno go to another network after giving up the Tonight Show. They lured him back to the network and created this mess.

I like Conan and Leno about the same, but I prefered the Leno @ 10:30, Conan @ 11:30 over anything we've had since (Conan @ 10:30 over the summer, Leno @ 9, Conan @ 10:30 now). Both Leno's show and Conan's shows got worse in their current slots.
