    Quick vector question

i dont remember the equation on top of my head, but i'll make up #'s just to get the theory correct.

So in our quiz, we had a problem, lets say vector V is (2, 5, 7) and it asks what is the distance from the point and the xz plane.

...The answer is not 5 is it? Because everyone kept telling me it was, but I just went to a calc teacher for a somewhat similar problem and was told that for any point to pass the X plane, Z would have to be zero, and any point on the Z plane, Y would have to be zero

so wouldn't you use the distance formula for Z and Y to get the distance it takes to get to the XZ plane?

wouldn't it just be the y-coordinate? i'm probably wrong though

It's 5. What you asked your calc teacher is a different question.
