    Security Camera help

Our security cameras have infrared night vision built into the camera heads, however, we can't see a thing at night so the night vision isn't working. It is a older system. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Is it dark or overly bright?

Dark as if the infrared is not working.

So its multiple cameras. I would guess its a software issue. Are there settings available for enabling and disabling that feature?

Doesn't appear to be. They are old cameras (guessing 7-10 years). I wonder if it is just the infrared is broke or something like that. I've been told that they did work at one time.

Guess it could be. But on multiples it sounds iffy. Is it so old noone supports it anymore?

Sounds close. I did a search on google and couldn't find anything about it. I'm not sure if all four cameras had infrared, but the two I know did have it no longer have the infrared working.

    Re: Security Camera help

If it was a kit that came with the cameras and the recorder/ vcr and screen my guess is the IR part just went bad. The cameras in those kits are generally pretty poor quality. Also the camera's with the IR built in don't work as well as the Day/Night cameras.

You can also buy IR lights and hook them up separate from the cameras to light up the area at night.

I might do that, I don't think we will be buying new cameras anytime soon since the roof needs to be replaced.
