    The Ballad of Brett Favre

I wrote this for my Viking Fan Friends. They hated it so much that I thought a few of you Cowboy fans might enjoy it. Go Cowboys.

    The Ballad of Brett Favre
Come and listen to a story about a man named Brett
    Poor confused soul , he’s a Vikingpackerjet
Then one day he was lacing up his shoe
And up from the South came a Rumblin Crew

Cowboys that is, Silver and Blue, America’s Team

Well the first you know Old Brett is on the ground
All he sees is STARS not a Viking Horn around
He says” If I had stayed at Lambeau this wouldn’t be happening to me”
It was the only excuse he had except the fact that he

Sucks that is: Overrated, Head Deflated, Should have retired.

    The Bumbling Vikings

Well now it’s time to say goodbye to Brett and all his kin
And they would like to thank the Boys for kickin’ their teeth in

You are all invited back next year to this locality
Unless he changes teams again , heck he might be a Chief

NFL Playoffs. Set a Spell, Take your shoes off.
Cheer for the Cowboys now, y’hear?

Anyone else notice how many Cowboy fans there are in Iowa? Don't have your own NFL team so basically a fan of the Yankees.

It's one of the reasons I hate the Cowboys and always have. A lot of my friends as kids were always wearing Cowboys or Stealer jerseys. Then in the 80s they switched to 49ers. The other is the fact that they call themselves "Americas TEam" I don't remember the vote anywhere.

I thought I was going to puke when I came back for Christmas in the late 90s early 00s, and everyone was wearing Rams Jerseys. Came back last year and saw 5 guys at a bar with Cardinal Jerseys on. I can kind of understand the Warner attachment, root for the local boy, that's fine. What pisses me off is when they pull their Hawkeyesque BS and start bashing me for being a Vikings fan. "Whoa, sorry I'm a bit loyal and actually cheer for teams I like rather than jump on the next bandwagon of a winning team."

What really amazes me is how many of these people hate teams like the Vikings. Yet I always wear my colors proud. I haven't seen a Cowboys Jersey on anyone since Jessica Simpson was wearing a pink one while dating Romo. All of a sudden it looks like they might have a winner and the ******** come out of the closet again.

if the Cowboys win, hey, good for them. But it doesn't make you a better person because you are able to somehow root for a winner.

I don't dislike the Vikings really but I really don't like Brett Favre. If Sage was their starter I would have been cheering for them unlesss they were plaing Dallas. When I was ten the Cowboys won the Super Bowl and they have been my team since. Just like the song, I was Roger Staubach in my back yard.

His whole quote was great, but I really like these parts. Same observation. Vikings were the team on TV growing up for me. Got attached, stayed attached. Came back from California for the NFC Championship game against Atlanta. Ugh. Still a huge fan though. Proud of that fact too. Strong personal attachment with the team, and had a friend in college whose father's company had like 18 season tix. So needless to say I have been to countless games.

Only thing that could change that for me would be if the team moves someday, which I hope never happens. Minneapolis is a great city and deserves to keep their Vikings.

Re: The Ballad of Brett Favre

    A-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah
We come from the land of the ice and snow
from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow

The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde and sing and cry, Valhalla, I am coming

On we sweep with, with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore

    Ah-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah
We come from the land of the ice and snow
from the midnight sun where the hot springs FLOW
How soft your fields, so green
can whisper tales of gore, of how we calmed the tides of war
    We are your overlords

On we sweep with, with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore

S-so now you better stop and rebuild all your ruins
for peace and trust can winthe day despite of all you're losin'
    Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
    Ahh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
    Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

Much better song than the OP's one. And way more fitting.

Well since that isn't true, it ruined the whole thing!

I was pumped when the Cowboys beat the Steelers finally in 1995. I called my friend from grade school who used to give me so much grief when the Steelers had the Cowboys number in the 70's. Of course he had switched to being a 49ers fan so i feel your pain.

Jessica Simpson is a good one to remember if thats what comes to mind when you think Cowboys jerseys

Noone ever said they were better than anyone because they are a Cowboy Fan. Thoughts like that are reserved for Hawkeye Fans.

Why hate the Cowboys based on this? Sounds like you hate bandwagon fans. Why is it the Cowboys' fault that people choose to jump on their bandwagon when things are going good?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. ~ George Carlin

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life:
The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs. ~ John Rogers

Brett is at a very difficult time in his career. Anything less than a Super Bowl Ring will be considered a failure to many fans. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. He has definitely put his legacy at risk.

He had arguably the greatest season of his life this year. He was near perfect. I think his legacy is still fine.
