Win or lose that was great effort, and as you said, we got their A game last night.

I hope they can continue to bring that type of effort and execution throughout the conference season. At least we know they are capable of doing it.

I agree. We saw character, heart, intensity and teamwork out of these guys last night. If they can bring that to the floor every night, with the talent that they have, the Big 12 season can be a great one.

I heard GMac on his after game radio interview say that Boozer's kneecap had slid out but they were able to get it back in. Now THAT sounds painful!! Is that something that is just a fluke and he can go on like nothing happened or does he need to wear a brace or something to keep it from happening again? I hope it won't have any lasting effect on him.

My leg hurt when I heard it. People at work asked, and I told them, and saw some of the best cringes I've seen in a while.

I'm no doctor, but I can't see him being back for a couple weeks or longer.

As Stewo said on the way out last night, Boozer would have made a real difference in the 2nd half, even just having another fresh guy out there. That's two games in a row that we've said that about Boozer, which is 2 more than we ever thought would happen.

I'm so impressed with Boozer's development. I hope he's OK.

If we bring this team to Lincoln on Saturday, then we're in good shape.

Last night was a good effort and something that we've all been waiting to see. I hope what this team realizes is that they have to bring an effort like that every night and continue to cut down on the mental mistakes.

Last night was a step in the right direction, but Saturday presents a new challenge and a pesky Nebraska team that shouldn't be overlooked. Success is still measured in wins, and based on that effort we saw last night, there's only one acceptable outcome for Saturday's game. This team has to win that game. Plain and simple.

Never overlook Nebraska with Doc Sadler. Their talent doesn't match ours, but they will bring everything they have to every game.

If we show up like last night, we're good to go. If not, it's gonna be tough to watch.

Totally agree. Nebraska knows their system and they play it well and it's tough to get them to deviate from it. They usually go a little small and they pressure the hell out of you on defense. Our guards are going to have to take care of the ball and we're going to need to move the ball around on offense to get open looks. They don't have anyone that can match up with Brackins & Gilstrap, so I imagine they'll do a lot of trapping, double teams, and possibly some matchup zone.

Dendy, either. Really, they can't match up on the inside, if we go that direction.

Should be fun. They really put on an energetic, intense game environment out in the Devaney Center. I really enjoy games out there, except for the losing part.

I've been very critical of this staff and team this season, BUT if GMac can get that kind of effort out of the team game in and game out, Then us critics will be silenced. Now go beat Nebraska. It's obvious they can do it.

Re: Williams: Still hope for the 2010 Cyclones

Part of me is excited about the way we performed but on the other hand, The #1 team in the nation came to town and Hilton was rocking, I would hope they amp it up a bit.

Coming into the season I thought the true fate of the team rested on DG's shoulders. After last night, I realized we are never going to get to the next level with him as our starting point guard (sorry DG lovers). He plays with zero sense of urgency, has no concept of time and situation and still just makes stupid turnovers. He has improved physically as a player but the mental aspects are still holding him down.

I loved how they started runing a lot of the offense through MG. Brackins had great numbers last night but they were kind of quiet (and thats okay). MG has the ability to take so much pressure off of Brackins on that end and he can put up 20 and 10 without you really even knowing about it. I loved the way Gilstrap played last night. he can be out of control at times but he is so aggressive that you can take the good with the bad.

We played with one of the best teams in the land for 38 minutes and that is a moral victory in itself. Give credit to Texas. They hit a ton of BIG shots last night. Hilton was ready to explode a few times and they just came down and hit daggers.

Re: Williams: Still hope for the 2010 Cyclones

Here's the thing for me: as great as it is that we "could have" won, when you throw everything extraneous (rankings, match-ups on paper, momentum) out, this is a game we "should have" won. Home court, evenly matched (not individual talent, but team vs. team play), good crowd, a rhythm that favored us.

Why'd we lose? Because Texas showed up and played a solid game? Maybe. Or maybe we made just enough missed free throws, ill-conceived shots and mental mistakes to lose it. In other words, as well as we played, we could have played better. It is a shame to leave that on the table in any game, but when playing number 1 in your house, leaving it on the table is not an option.

Chris is absolutely right - last night's game gave reason for hope.

I'm just sad we missed a legitimate opportunity to instead have reason for confidence.
