    Next years lineup

i'm a little worried about us taking a major step back next year as we lose a lot of senior leadership after this year-fanthorpe, gallick, mueller, burk, varner and big z. that's over half the starting lineup and most of them have been 4 year guys.

i'm trying to figure out who will be our starting 10 next year. anyone have thoughts/input to this? looking at the current roster, my best guess would be:

125-Deardon//VallesLong-would be nice to see Long stay here
133-Deardon/Valles/Long-whoever can win between Deardon and Valles
    141-Jensen
149-Weatherman-hope he pans out for us
    157-Sorenson/Carr?
    165-Reader
    174-i have no idea
    184-Ward/Beard
    197-Ward/Beard?
    HWT-Thompson?

That means Long, Reader, Ward, and Sorenson would be back in the starting lineup-3 possible returning AAs.

There are message board rumbling of Gallick considering trying for a medical hardship for this season and sitting out the rest of the way.

    Re: Next years lineup

Deardon took time off from the sport and I believe left the program last fall. (could be wrong). Part of me is hopeful for a Bubba Jenkins transfer.

Next year will be interesting for ISU and Iowa both. While they re-load, Okie State and a young Penn State look to climb to the top. (cael has recruited very well but they will be young)

125- Valles (we will have a stud RS)
    133- Long
141- Gallick (I hope) or Jensen
    149- Weatherman
157- Bubba Jenkins (I hope) or Sorenson
    165- Reader
174- Spangler (unless Jason Welch wants to transfer from NW- not gonna happen)
    184- Beard
    197- Ward
HWT- Thompson (I hope) or Sorenson (2-0 last weekend)

    Re: Next years lineup

Okie State will probably win 3 national titles in row after IOwa wins this barring choke by Iowa

If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team.

    Re: Next years lineup

Deardon had an awesome summer and I was pumped about him. He came back to school and questioned if he wanted to wrestle any more. I thought he left the program in October but I could be wrong on that. If he wrestled unattached, I was unaware of it. He will be good if he chooses to stay w/ it.

Jenkins was going to be a senior this year but was ineligible. Penn State had a transfer at his weight named Cyler Sanderson and he got the spot. Two weeks ago, Bubba was infomred he would not be renewed for a scholarship at Penn State. He will have one year to compete and we should hear more from him (if we have not already) soon. I am guesssing that a Big Ten school is out since he would have to pay his own way so maybe we have a chance.

If we have Gallick and Bubba, we could make some noise at NCAA's in '11. Okie State will still be my favorite to win it.

Simonson was the HWT that I was thinking of and not Sorenson

Actually, that has been floating around rival's sites for a couple of days.

Sounds like the plan is for him to get his academics in order and be back by next fall. Hopefully it works out for the young man.

    Re: Next years lineup

Valles quit early in the season. Thompson out due to grades. Reference in earlier thread.....
Sorensen probably go 157, Spangler 174, Shafer could go 197, 184, 174. Simonson HWT. Beard 197, or 184. Ward 197 getting huge.

    Re: Next years lineup

We've got a stud coming in at 125 next season out of Arizona and I think the coaching staff needs to be mentioned if we're talking next season. Huge improvement already with some of the guys who had so so seasons last year. I think we'll have some surprises next season.

Former Iowa high school state heavyweight champ and former ISU football defensive end Kyle Slifka will be using his final year of college eligibility to wrestle this coming year. should be fun to watch!
