    does usc now...

remind you of Miami 15 years ago? If I remember right it was then that Denny Erickson GTFO because he knew that the NCAA was going to penalize them and he didn't want to be under scrutiny so he basically "left the scene of an accident".

Similar, I don't know that USC is going to be hit that hard but it does seem to me teams are catching up to them.

    Re: does usc now...

I would also bet that USC now gets something for all the stuff that went down whereas if they managed to keep Pete, they wouldn't. Why might I say that? Because with Pete they are a perennial power and cash cow, but now they are looking at "rebuilding" which gives the NCAA a 2 year window to "punish" them without really doing much damage.

Plus, now USC coach can recruit and say "See, those shady deals weren't me, they were Pete and he is not here, I wouldn't EVER do that".

After all is said and done, they won't get much considering they've had 2 seperate RBs (McKnight and Bush) get free stuff (a car and a house respectively). Plus, as with most scandals, if you've heard about it, there is probably a boat load other things going on that we haven't heard about yet...

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

IF something comes out they could be eligible for ncaa death penalty because of the previous troubles with floyd and basketball and also with reggie bush. But, they are USC so a ncaa death penalty is not really even possible. The ncaa would never take out a program as storied as USC football. If it was ISU...look the f out.

Exactly right. Alabama had some punishments a while back but it wasn't something that kept them from being competitive. Carroll is a smart man and knew it would catch up eventually.

That wasn't a death penalty case. SMU was a death penalty.

    Re: does usc now...

USC will face some penalties, but nothing close to a 'death penalty' nor should they. They have had a few stupid kids and familes do some stupid things. For a 'death penalty' to be deserved you would have to prove that the AD or coach was pulling the strings on all those shady deals.
