Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

Re: Big 12 womens hoops kicks off

I think the ISU/Nebby outcome will be the most telling of all the Big 12 games. Other than LSU, NU hasn't really played anyone so this will be their chance to prove that LSU wasn't a fluke. ISU is the same way, except we don't have a win over a top 25 team, we haven't even played a top 25 team yet. Hilton is a tough place to play and regardless of their record this season, Nebraska really isn't use to winning tough close games. I think this will be a close game and the winner may very well prove to be the best in the North.

It is going to be a good game the key will not be to stop griffin but to at least slow her down.. this is a game that we will need bolte to have a solid game along with poppens

I would add Prins in that mix. Scoring wise, we need Prins. Poppens is a good player, but she just isn't a scoring threat that Prins is.

the reason i do not say prins is because i know she won't be conditioned yet if she can contribute 15mins and score a couple times then ya that would be awesome but if Pop and Z can play well enough that prins is not needed as much then that will be huge, to go along with that we need bolte to be at her best and lacey well just to be lacey and the rest should fall into place

my dark horse for the game.. Jessica Schroll
Why you ask? since the first exhibition game i have been impressed with Jessica but she has not been able to find her grove.. i really think its almost a blessing just because teams won't have much film on her and i kind of see her being a player like Scott Christopherson for the men.. she has the ability to create her own shot and is not bad on the defensive side of the ball..

This game and the rest of the season should be fun to watch and see how this team grows

Agree with the comments on Schroll; she is quick and fast, and jumps well. The shot she creates off the dribble is a medium jumper. Bolte has one too, but Schroll is quicker to a spot and gets the shot off faster. When she learns to control her fouling, she should become more productive. But, as you point out, she has not found her groove, and maybe that is because she has the size of a 3, but the heart of a 4. That is, she likes to go inside and bang on the boards. We will need that energy once Denai graduates.

Re: Big 12 womens hoops kicks off

Kansas at Kansas State, 11 am (FSN)
Missouri at Colorado, 1 pm (FSN)
Baylor at Oklahoma State, 2:30 pm (CSN)
Texas Tech at Oklahoma, 2:30 pm (TTSN/SSN)
Texas A&M at Texas, 5 pm (FSSW)
Nebraska at Iowa State, 7 pm(CloneZone)

The highest matchup is the one not on TV. It's a tough road to the Dance - I'll have to monitor my emotions to avoid depression as we stumble along the way - we'll get better as the season goes on. Griffin's grandparents will be at the game today. Be nice.

Just watched KSU roll over KU. Sweat and Childs led the wildcats on offense. Sweat was in McRae's pocket all game long, shutting her down. Karr (?) for the wildcats hit some big 3 point shots as well.

KSU 59-35. Not the way that was supposed to go down. From the bits I saw, neither looked like a top twenty team. We can beat these teams, at least at Hilton.

I think we should be able to beat these teams on the road. KSU worries me more than KU and not just because of today. On a side note, CU seems to be handling MU early.

"CU seems to be handling MU early." 13-4 7 points for Spears. I picked
MU in this one. I may be 0-2 early.

Now 19-6 with 8:32 left in the first. Mizzou completely ineffective on both sides of the court.

CU always plays well at home and like crap on the road no surprise there. I agree with getting KSU on the road, but Lawrence as been a bad scene as of late. I'm planning on making the roadie to KSU.
