    2010 and 2011 schedules

I was looking at our future schedules today and one thing became very clear to me. ..... If we get 6 wins any of the next two years then we should be very very happy. Those are crazy tough schedules with Texas and Oklahoma back to back both years. How do we play all the South Teams in the fist 4 weeks in Big 12 play?? Bias towards the south not having to come north and play in cold weather?? Either way what a brutal schedule.

2011 we have @ Utah, home vs. Iowa, @ Uconn then home vs. UNI.

Precisely. OSU playing in Ames on Nov. 7th was only the 2nd time a South school has played in Ames in November. The company line is that it keeps teams playing "divisional" games later in the year, when it matters. The only problem is that beating a team in your division carries no more weight to winning the division than beating a team from the other division.

What if we go ahead and do it both years?

Also, I don't buy the whole "divisional games matter more" junk, either. They don't break it down that way in the standings. But that would make it sound like the Big 12 is biased towards the Texas schools, and we all know that's not likely.

There certainly isn't any circumstantial evidence to suggest that.

    No, not at all.

Thankfully, these games won't be on TV, so nobody will know how we did.

    Re: 2010 and 2011 schedules

I agree that these schedules are very tough but don't count us out so quickly. CPR has these guys convinced they can beat anybody, and it wasn't that long ago that we came real close to upsetting OU in Ames. Plus we can hope that Texas and OU have a tough season after losing thier QBs among other players and Texas Tech and Kansas are both breaking in new coaches who will hopefully have Chizik like years.

I think we have a good chance to beat: NI, Mizzou, Colorado, K state, Kansas, and we just need to get one win out of Utah, Iowa, Texas, OU, NU or TT

(and now bring on the people that think I am crazy and live in a dream world)

    Re: 2010 and 2011 schedules

why play at Uconn and at Utah in the same year 2011? Throw Iowa at home, you are looking at POSSIBLY the Big East champ, MWC Champ, and Big Ten champ in the non-conference.

Pollard needs to find a way to get out of one of those and get a home game against a MAC school.

I thought we were moving to the MAC?

I'll say it again- oh, ye of little faith. Before the 09 season started, anyone predicting a bowl game was a koolaid drinker. Only the crazies predicted a win at Nebraska. Did anybody predict Mangino & Leach getting canned? They weren't even on the hotseat. Ya never know what's gonna happen. Don't count these guys out yet.

I believe that Iowa State is the only school that plays Texas and Oklahoma back-to-back.

I'm not sure how the 2011 non-con schedule was allowed to come to pass, but we should not be afraid of it. Play with he hand you've been dealt. Let's not pull a Missouri and back out of a difficult non-con game because we think it will be too tough.

Another thing next year because pollard got ISU the game at arrowhead he got rid of the three game stretch of road games that ISU did have. Which they are the only big 12 team to have a stretch like that.

While I agree on one level, in some ways, whether we play OU and UT next year in our South rotation means little (except great opportunity). I have not checked the records, but I will bet ISU has never done better than winning 1 of the 3 South games, and probably went 0 for 3 many times. So what does it matter.

The key to getting 6 wins rarely depends on who is on our schedule from the South. It is a matter of beating North teams like KU, CU, KSU, NU, and MU; and getting at least 3 non-conference wins. That formula is still available in 2010 and 2011.

But I definitely agree with others that the UCONN away game should be moved or bought out in 2011. Going to Utah and UConn the same year, while all of our "easier" conference games (KU, MU, NU) are on the road is a brutal schedule.
