Shanahan to Redskins - Done Deal

Would this be a good move for him? Doesn't seem other coaches have done so well in Washington.

    Re: Shanahan to Redskins?

I dunno...lots of work needs to be done there. Quarterback still a huge question mark and Portis isn't getting any younger.

Snyder has shown he's willing to spend the cash though...they just don't seen to do it wisely.

If he goes, he needs a new Quarterback and time to work things out. They were pathetic this year and have been for awhile.

    Re: Shanahan to Redskins?

When Shanahan goes there, he'll have a lot of control and say as to what goes on. Dan Snyder is hated, and has admitted he hasn't done a very good job. The problem is the Skins want to win right away and not rebuild, which won't get them anywhere, its going to be the same 'ol same 'ol. They need to rebuild the offense, there isn't any other way around it.

They will flounder again next year as they have the past decade. Their offense line is non-existent and the running position is a joke with Portis and Betts. Jason Campbell is an average quarterback at best, but to be fair his offensive line is terrible. They have a decent defense, but the offense is inept.

    God i hope so...

They need to fix something soon or they will end up being in the same boat historically as the Lions and the Browns

    Re: Shanahan to Redskins?

When I look at 2010 and the potential jobs that may be open, a case could be made to sit out for another year...

Carolina - Fox is entering the last year of his contract, neither side talking about extensions
NY Giants - I think if they miss the playoffs again, Coughlin might bite the bullet
Chicago - (pending no change this year) I don't see them finishing any better than 3rd in the North next year, so if Lovie is not gone this year, I expect him to be gone after 2010
Houston - It's playoffs or bust for Kubiak in 2010
Jacksonville - How much longer will Del Rio get?
Tennessee - I think the relationship between Fisher and management there is strained

Dallas - Ya think Jerry is going to settle for anything less than a Super Bowl appearance in an uncapped year that will feature the big game played in his shiny new stadium? Me neither.

    Re: Shanahan to Redskins?

On the flip side, 2011 may be a locked out season, so teams may wait to fire coaches until after 2011...no idea how that will all play out. So guys currently on the sidelines thinking of waiting until after 2010 may have to wait another year.

I think he wants to get in and get a paycheck before there's no football in 2011. Doubt he wants to sit out 2 more years.

Don't confuse hope for a plan.

Carolina - Fox is entering the last year of his contract, neither side talking about extensions Agreed. He seems to stink when they expect a lot and exceed expectations when people think they suck
NY Giants - I think if they miss the playoffs again, Coughlin might bite the bullet Huh? They won the super bowl 2 years ago and won the division by 3 games last year. Could argue they are a Plaxico Burress shooting himself away from a very nice 3 year stretch
Chicago - (pending no change this year) I don't see them finishing any better than 3rd in the North next year, so if Lovie is not gone this year, I expect him to be gone after 2010 Agreed
Houston - It's playoffs or bust for Kubiak in 2010 Agreed. They have to win the close ones. They have playoff talent
Jacksonville - How much longer will Del Rio get?
Tennessee - I think the relationship between Fisher and management there is strained One of the top 3 coaches in football IMO. Love the guy

Dallas - Ya think Jerry is going to settle for anything less than a Super Bowl appearance in an uncapped year that will feature the big game played in his shiny new stadium? Me neither. They should have fired him last year! I am not a big Wade Phillips fan

NY is a city of what have you done for me lately. Won't take too kindly to missing the playoffs again (if that happens).

The Broncos should beg him to come back.

u do realize an uncapped year doesn't really help much, as many free agents are restricted free agents

    Re: Shanahan to Redskins?

He's a good coach and I know in the past that owner had an open check book.

I think it would be a great move for the Redskins if they can get him. I'm not so sure it's a good career move for Shanahan however. He should wait a year and get the Steeler's job...

cambell would be a lot better fit for shanahan than big ben. As much as people trash on the redskins, their setup is not that bad. Look at the oakland raiders, they have the talent, just crappy leadership.

plus i heard shanahan will have full reign of EVERYTHING if he took over the redskins, no way would the steelers give that to him
