Best method to sell old books?

Hey, I am trying to sell my old books from last semester. What is the best way to sell them and get the most money? Is there a better time to sell than now? I paid $65 for a book at the start of the year and now when I look at the same book on the same website, it is selling for $24. If you have some insight (I have been using that word a lot lately), please reply. Thanks!

Amazon.com is what I have had the best luck with.

If it went $65 to $24, you're taking a hit regardless.

I haven't checked out amazon yet. I have tried barnes and noble and half.com. Thanks for the suggestions!

Bet your friends $65 that you can skip the book across Lake LaVerne, skip the book, and then collect on your bet.

If you can find a friend that is taking the class that is usually the best bet. Sell it to them for more than the bookstores or websites will give you, but less than they would pay to go out and buy it. It is a win win for both of you. After that, as others have said, buy.com, amazon.com.

If you are to the point of selling it back to UBS or CBS, just pile them all in a barrel in the middle of your room and light them on fire. The value of the heat they give off on a cold day like this will be much more than what the crooks at the book store will pay you.

Form a chain with someone older and younger than you in your major. You'll all come out ahead.

This is probably the best option. I used to tell whoever I was buying it for to find out how much they'd get for it at the bookstore and split the difference between that and the amazon price. That way they got more money, and I saved more money. Everybody wins!

Don't but the books in the first place.

unless of course its "absolutely" required. Then you will probably make the most money by selling them to friends taking the class after you.

Half.com. If you do book buy back at the bookstores do it early, you'll get decent (not great) money back but once the bookstore fufills the amount of that particular book that they want for the next semester, they start buying back at a much lower rate and shipping around to other bookstores.

This is so simple, but a great idea.
