    Rick Hartzell

Watching him ref our game yesterday and strut around during time outs, little spin moves, and his Eddie Hightower style calls - I wanted to punch the dork. Man does that guy think he is something special.

    Re: Rick Hartzell

Walters was definitely giving it to him during the broadcast.

    Re: Rick Hartzell

He is usually a pretty good official, but the whole crew was off last night. I think they let the game get out of hand by not calling fouls under the basket, both ways.

    Re: Rick Hartzell

Yeah Hartzell is one of my favorite officials (really does not say much), but yesterday the crew as a whole had a bad game.

    Re: Rick Hartzell

By "letting them play" yesterday, we were really at a disadvantage. We couldn't get any calls by using our big guys down low because they weren't calling much. On the other hand, Houston didn't really care because they weren't trying to post anyone up.

Giving what to him?? That seems like uncouth behavior for a broadcast journalist.

Rick can come off a little arrogant.

Rick Hartzell is a great referee. There is no one better, IMO. He also gives great, informative clinics.

Wow, you must have seen a lot of basketball officials over the years! I'll take your word for it.

    Re: Rick Hartzell

He was arguing with a fan during a timeout; which I found a little odd. But he is a good guy and with the history he has with Mac I can see if it's a weird game for him to call. He'd want to appear very impartial, which can make things go wrong.

Nothing says "class" like arguing with fans when you're a college basketball official making at least $750 for the game.

    Re: Rick Hartzell

That crew yesterday called way too much tick tack hand checking crap.

I almost felt bad for Houston.

He argues with fans during each game during time outs. He usually is right too.
