ISU vs. Duke in Chicago: What's your gameplan?

How are you getting there? When are you arriving? What are your plans in the Windy City? Please share. I'd like to increase the probability of encountering "friendlies" when I am in Chicago this week.

I'm departing out of Osceola on Tuesday via the California Zephyr. Then to the United Center for the Blackhawks vs. Wild game that evening. I've penciled in Fogo de Chao for a visit at some point. Back to the United Center for the big game on Wed. night and then headed back to Iowa at 2PM on Thursday.

    Sound off Cyclone fans.

I'm going to head out Wednesday morning. Find a place to eat over there. Probably get lost.

Let's face it. Anyone hanging with Stewo is stuck with Stewo.

I'm working until 6, and then heading to the United Center. Hopefully, getting there around 7, walk around there for a little to see anybody I might know, then grab a beer and then head to my seat. I will then cheer loud and annoy any Duke fans that might be sitting next to me.
I will then be driving back home either sad or happy.

I scheduled a couple work appointments in Chicagoland for Wednesday & Thursday; meet an old college buddy in Palatine around 5PM Wednesday and drive downtown for a relaxing dinner before heading to Chicago Stadium for the game.

Sounds like we'll have a quite the following out there!

We're leaving around noon Wednesday, hit the hotel and dinner - then out to the United Center. What is the parking situation like there? We're staying downtown on Michigan Ave and have not decided if we're gonna drive, take the L or a cab.

Driving in Wed and was also wondering what the parking was like at the United Center?

Re: ISU vs. Duke in Chicago: What's your gameplan?

There is a lot of easy access parking lots directly by the United Center, but you will pay for it in parking. If you can, I'd take the train or a cab if you're not far away. If you're close to a train stop, then you can take that and be fine by only paying a couple of bucks. A cab ride won't be too bad either, if you don't have to go far. Not sure what they will charge for parking around the UC, but for bulls games, etc, it can get pricey (at least $20).

EDIT: I think the Blue line will stop the closest to the United Center.

    United Center parking: http://www.unitedcenter.com/unitedce...ionGeneral.asp
Not sure if those prices will be the same for the ISU/Duke game, though.

I live a block off Michigan Ave and here's what I'm going to be doing:

Catch a red line train to State/Lake (just a few stops...I have no idea what hotel you're at so you could even walk to this place if you're near the river). Get off..walk upstairs and get on the platform (on the north side) outside and catch a Green Line train going to Harlem and get off at Ashland-Lake and walk like 1-2 blocks and viola you're at the United Center.

The train ride is literally 5 miles from State/Lake to Ashland/Lake. Just buy a CTA thing. It's going to cost you $2.25 to ride and you can pass back to other people.

Oh alright, I wasn't sure if the Green Line had any stops as close as the Blue line from the United Center.

Re: ISU vs. Duke in Chicago: What's your gameplan?

Meeting up with my hawk fan who REQUESTED I bring him a Cyclone shirt or apparel to wear (he REALLY hates Duke.) and get a little messed up together before the game. Leaving CF/waterloo sometime wed morn and toss back some cheap ones before taking the bus from his place. FREE bed/place to stay w00t! And then watch Iowa State go upset chi-city all over some preppy blue douchebags while drinking some overpriced beverages and then prolly had to a sports bar I am sure he'll tell me what's good. Then prolly stay up WAY too late doing something I know will be stupid and head back either late thurs(don't wanna drive back right after a hangover) or early fri morn. Was just down in Tempe/LV, but I still had some Paid time off from 2009 and I gotta use it by June so these Cyclone trips were very nice timing.
