Reading this article makes me sick to think that Steve Alford and Bob Bowlsby defended this guy only to give him a chance to re-offend so they could win some basketball games. I hope that for Pierce's sake he does turn his life around despite the enablers of the U of I athletic department. It gives me comfort that our administration would not tolerate that behaivor.

Thankfully one member of the Parole board is more responsible than Steve Alford and Bob Bowlsby.

And after all the terrible stuff that he has done, he has the balls to say that he could be released on parole to a U of I track coach?!?!?!?! I can only assume he had prior approval from this U of I employee before he made mention of it in the hearing?!?!? And to think he figures if released, he could go back to easy living in Iowa City and finish his degree?!?!?! Do the higher ups at EIU realize this was thrown out as an option by Pierce......?

As a father of 3 daughters, I can tell you a few of my thoughts on how this should have been handled

I don't have any daughters of my own, but I still think sex offenders should be handled Marsellus Wallace style.

not to defend this creep, but the article did state it was a former track coach for the U of I. as a female who was in college just 4 years ago, these guys do exist...there is a lure of the male athlete that also is used to impress their girl friends. my friends that dated athletes got wrapped up in crazy drama similar to this situation, however, it never went this far. pierre piece truly is sick and i hope he's gotten enough help during his time behind bars.

I'm not sure how you meant that, Amyk, but I sure hope he's gotten lots of help during his time behind bars, as well.

When I first read your comments, I thought you were implying something about the type of help PP might receive behind bars. Like maybe someone taught him how it feels to be on the other side of the sexual assault equation.

Hopefully while others were watching the whole thing so he could feel the shame that he put on that poor student at EIU. I sure hope his first victim has been able to get past that traumatic event.

Also, what's that say about the guys who came in to watch. Cowards
