Lets get BEAS!-- now since both of Iowa's main recruiters are gone, we could see a downfall with some of iowa's recruits.

Maybe they'll bring Beas with them down to NM.

Is Beas an 07 or 08 recruit?

    Re: Neal going with Alford

Say what you want about Alford, he just agreed to a contract that 1) pays him a million dollars per year, and 2) he gets to move to Albuquerque (another upgrade over IC). He may have issues, but he came out of this smelling pretty damn good.

    Re: Neal going with Alford

He also went from the Big 10 to a Mountain West team that was below .500. It just shows how badly he wanted out of there.

    Re: Neal going with Alford

How quickly my prediction in another thread is proven incorrect; I suggested that Neal might be EIU HC once they struck out with bigger names.

I guess it's not too big a surprise; Alford & Neal weren't "Barta guys", so if you're gonna "clean house" you might as well do a good job of it. I expect Gary Barta told Neal he wouldn't be considered....

Craig Neal yelled at me during a 9 & 10 y/o rec baseball game last season; his son was on the other team. We were up 4-3 in the final inning and they had the bases loaded with one out. I called TO to instruct my infielders on the situation and he starts yelling at me from the leftfield line about wasting time. The game ended in a tie and I went to seek him out, but he was gone. I knew his wife in passing so I gave her a message for Craig from me; "I'm trying to teach these kids baseball; your husband called two TO's in a row on a game ending in-bounds play last winter; shouldn't college kids on scholarship know what to do?" He never called me to discuss...

    Re: Neal going with Alford

Ouch, that hurts because I believe it was Neal that recruited Tyler Smith too. Iowa could be in the same situation we were in last year scrambling to find enough players after all the defections.

    Re: Neal going with Alford

I could see Tyler Smith and Tony Freeman also going with Alford. For sure it is going to be dismal in IC next year. Freeman was the most supportive of Alford before this happened, his dad was a teammate of Alford, Tyler Smith would have never come to Iowa if not for Craig Neal. And don't tell me Alford has too much integrity to do this. I think he would love to stick it to Iowa one more time. Just like he did when they hired him.

    Re: Neal going with Alford

Smith won't sit out a year, farther away from his boy. I think Smith has already prepped a year too.. His decision comes down to taking a chance on the draft or one more year in IC.
