    2010 Football Expectations

Here is how I feel our season will go next year, but that isn't the main point to this thread. My main purpose for this thread is *Expectations*. Things like Arnauds performance, pass defense, excelling youthful defense, our receiver play, etc.

    2010
    NIU 38-13 W 1-0
    Iowa 10-24 L 1-1
    Utah 31-35 L 1-2
    UNI 28-10 W 2-2
    Tech 27-14 W 3-2 1-0
    KSU 28-21 W 4-2 2-0
    OU 10-27 L 4-3 2-1
    Texas 14-34 L 4-4 2-2
    Kansas 42-17 W 5-4 3-2
    Nebraska 12-13 L 5-5 3-3
    Colorado 31-20 W 6-5 4-3
    Missouri 38-35 W 7-5 5-3

    Bowl Game Insight
    Mich St. 28-24 W 8-5 5-3

I really believe picking wins and losses is arbitrary at this point. I think its clear i have high expectations for this team next season. As much as I have been critical of arnaud, i think he pulls through next season to have a year very similar to his sophomore season.

Defense continues to improve. Our new JUCO additions have this D playing at its highest level since 2005. Rony Nelson leads the D line with Rashawn parker back. Knott and Klein tear it up. Our secondary will really be solid as well. Sims, LJ, Benton, Givens, others..

Receivers route running and team speed will be much improve. This will help arnaud out tremendously.

ARob has 1000 yards again on fewer carries and our O will be less dependent on him.

    Thats my .02

    Re: 2010 Football Expectations

On a side note, Im sure we have all heard CPR's preseason expectations for 2009 season, "win a bowl game." I wonder if his expectations will change? They could be raised to "Big 12 North Champs"

Really, the expectations for us every year should be to win the north, but hopefully those expectations become more realistic and probable

    Re: 2010 Football Expectations

I'd be completely satisfied with just being bowl eligible next year, given the schedule. If we can beat Iowa or Utah, it would be huge as well.

I think ISU beats Utah next season. I am more worried about Northern Illinois then Utah.

Does your OU include underclassmen leaving? I have a feeling ISU can beat OU next season, even on the road.

    Re: 2010 Football Expectations

Here is How I See it playing out....

Northern Illinois- W, 34-14. Offense comes out on fire. Defense plays Smart.
Iowa L, 10-17. Ugly Game Like Always. Iowa Could Be the Toughest Team We Play (Puke)
Utah- W, 31-27. Bounce Back Nice With a Big Win for the Program.
UNIW, 24-7. Scary Game. But UNI Loses Talent. After our Loss to these Guys I Cant See How we Ever Overlook these guys again.
Texas Tech- W, 44-41. ShootOut. Offense Finding Rhythm and Defense Does Just Enough
KSU- W, 31-21. Revenge For Last Year. Jack Trice South is Rocking.
OU - L, 31-10. Never Close. Team Plays Hard.
Texas L, 24-34. Arnaud and the Clones almost Pull the Upset.
Kansas W, 41-24. They should be Down and We Should Have Beat them This Year.
Nebraska- L, 17-21. Everything About Me Says We Can Win this Game, but the Huskers are Going to be Good. Hope I am Wrong.
Colorado W, 41-21. Dan Hawkins, Enough Said.
Missouri W, 34-21. Missouri's Last Game in Ames before Joining the Little 11.

So I Guess that Means 8-4, with another Bowl Trip...Plenty Of Kool- Aid Left

Explain. I'm more worried about Northern Iowa than Northern Illinois.

    Here's my crack at this...

    1) NIU: W, 34-21. Defense has some early jitters. Looks similar to last year's NDSU game.

    2) Iowa: L, 21-24. We drop a heartbreaker, thanks to a special teams error.

    3) UNI: W, 31-7. Not as close as the score says. There is NO WAY that we overlook this game. I would pray our guys want revenge BADLY for one of the most embarassing losses in Cyclone history.

    4) Utah: L, 24-28. I almost picked this a win. I think it's a toss up. The home crowd will be JACKED up for this one.

    5) Texas Tech: W, 35-31. Hopefully they make a train wreck of a hire, and are not at all focused for a rare trip to Ames, looking ahead to some bigger game.

    6) KSU: W, 32-21. We need revenge, and this time we take care of the ball, play solid D, and control most of the game.

    7) OU: L, 24-42. We hang for a half and get worn out down the stretch.

    8) UT: L, 21-48. Pretty much identical to the previous week.

    9) KU: W, 36-18. Revenge, baby. Rough start to the Turner Gill era.

    10) NU: W, 17-10. 2 in a row. Yeah, that's right. This game officially makes Nebraska fans stand up and notice ISU. Dare I say rivalry? Not yet, but a step in the right direction.

    11) CU: L, 26-29. Yeah, it's Dan Hawkins, but it's in Boulder, and it's a CLASSIC let down game. A winnable game that keeps us from playing in a much better bowl.

    12) Mizzou: W, 24-17. Losing Alexander, and 'Spoon, this is the year they let down.

I guess that's 7-5. I was telling a friend earlier that I saw 6-6. A lot of those games can go either way, but these guys have proven that they can hang on in a close game, and occasionally upset someone.
