    Order of Bowl Games

It's time. The order of these January bowl games need to be re-evaluated. Playing after the new year use to be a privilege. There is absolutely no reason the GMAC Bowl should be played on January 6th!! And when did the Alamo Bowl decide that it would play it's game on January 2nd, the day AFTER the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl? The last five bowl games of the college football season should be the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, and Nat'l Championship. Get the International Bowl, Papajohns.com Bowl, Autozone Liberty Bowl, and GMAC Bowl out of there... or at least back in December.

    Three words: Exclusive television windows.

When ESPN/ABC televises over 25 of the 34 games, they need someplace to put them so as not to overlap.

So then move these crap bowls back into the middle of the bowl season, and bump everything else forward. This is suppose to be the cream of the bowl season crop, but instead we're stuck with a few duds to watch.

I actually agree with you. What's the game on Wed? Some no-name bowl? What is that?

Got a pretty decent Orange bowl matchup on Tues, that mess on Wed, National Championship Thurs (right?)

This is supposed to be a build up, not a side show.

All the same - the Rose Bowl pretty much owns New Years Day. I don't see them moving.

That would be the power-house matchup between Central Michigan and Troy. Oh the excitement!!

    Re: Order of Bowl Games

I would love for the NCAA to make a rule that no non-BCS game could be played after Jan 1st. New years eve and day used to be filled with games. Now they are spread out so far into January that there aren't that many games on new years anymore. I used to love watching multiple games and if one became a blowout there was another one on. It kinda reminded me of march madness.

    Re: Order of Bowl Games

The NCAA has little to nothing to do with bowl games. Those games exist for one reason and one reason only - to make money.

Everything else about them is imposed by fans on a system that has nothing to do with anything else aside from revenue.

If the bowls make more money by having their games in Jan, so be it. That's just more revenue that can come back to the schools that participate in them. Nobody is forcing you to watch these games, so my apologies if I don't get morally outraged that they exist and when they are played.

I think every bowl game would make more money if it were played in January. I have no problem watching these games, I just feel that the last games of the season should be reserved for those that have earned it.... the BCS games.

Although the NCAA has little to do with organizing these bowl games, they definitely have the authority to move the BCS bowls to the end to make them more special. In the end, if they don't do anything they may end up losing money because the BCS games will become less important and thus less TV money.

The NCAA doesn't get any money from the Bowls. It goes straight to the conferences and independent schools.

Why the hell should anyone care what bowl game is played when? If they're minor bowl games that you have no interest in, don't watch 'em. Sounds simple to me...

Not complaining about having to watch them. Just saying that the placement of some of these bowls is getting ridiculous. It is no longer as much of an honor to play a bowl game on Jan 1 or after. The GMAC bowl has no right to be the second-to-the-last bowl game played.

    Re: Order of Bowl Games

Get over the fact of it being an honor to play on January 1st. All but 2 of the Big 10s games are played in January. It hasn't been a big deal for quite some time now even though people to the east like to tell us about it.
