    Beas Hamga

Time to snatch this kid back up after Alford is gone.

His teammate Lucca Steiger is already signed to play with us and Beas has good interest in ISU at one time!

    Re: Beas Hamga

He's a 6'11" center!...Alford must have had a good sales pitch for the kid to choose them over McDermott and ISU. Doesn't GMac have a good repuation for developing post players?

Just show him tape of Jiri's improvement this year and see if that changes his mind. If it doesn't, then we probably don't want him!

    Re: Beas Hamga

Actually Lucca is his roommate, they literally live together. I think it's an extreme long shot, but it would be a great pickup to snag this kid.

    Re: Beas Hamga

I wouldn't say its a long shot, but ISU is going to have to do some work. Hamga was interested in ISU before he committed to Iowa, so he already has talked to the ISU coaches. If im not mistaken Alford, and Craig Neal were the coaches that recruited Beas, now since Alford is gone, and Craig close to landing a new job, ISU could pull it off.

Neal didn't get the U of Denver job, the Princeton coach did. Maybe Neal will still be in the running for others, but that was the rumored one that I'd heard.

    Re: Beas Hamga

Why is Hamga a long shot? We were on his top five, and he is rooming with an ISU commit. That sounds like almost the opposite of a long shot.

    Re: Beas Hamga

Point taken. I might be trying not to get my hopes up. Plus I don't know how McD feels about talking to players who have verbally committed. Some coaches would probably not do it out of principle, but I think it's a different situation considering his coach is not only not getting fired, he's leaving to go to another school willingly. I'm not suggesting McD go Kelvin Sampson on us, but I think this one is fair game.

    Where are my morals? ;)

    Re: Beas Hamga

From what I heard, Neal was the larger reason Beas committed to Iowa. I'm willing to bet that the next coach tries to retain Neal, that is if Hamga's still committed.

    Re: Beas Hamga

From what I understand, Neal and Alford are buddies. There is a good chance Alford would try to retain him.

Not sure if that would be possible, since NM is a step down.

All morals go out the window when a seven foot 200 pound animal is in question. I would get attempt to get him in every way that was legal.
