Three Stooges/ Friday Marathon on TBS

Roll call, who's going to be tuning in? TBS is having a Three Stooges marathon starting at 7:05 a.m. Friday. They are marking this day as the 90th anniversary of Jerome Howard, the one and only true Curly. They are to be showing most of his work with the Stooges back in the 30's. Can't wait!

    Thanks for the reminder Eddie!

Yes, Curly was the best and could not be replace by Joe Besser.

However, as a dedicated 3 Stooges fan, I recently acquired a renewed admiration for Shemp - who preceded Curly and was the original member of their Vaudeville team.

Shemp could take a slap to the face from Moe better than anyone. He also was more neurotic and could make his Lips chatter and had that high-pitch squeal that was hilarious.

Most people think Curly was the original member of the trio because all the Columbia Movie shorts were filmed after Shemp quit the team. But Curly had a stroke in the mid-1940's and they brought Shemp back to replace him until he recovered. Unfortunately, Curly never recovered and died six years later.

Shemp all the way; in a different way, he was just as funny as Curly.

Too bad the Stooges never made the money they deserved - they got screwed by bad management and Hollywood who never gave their work the respect it deserved, or was appreciated by a growing number of young male juvenile delinquents!@

I agree that Shemp was very funny. One of my fave episodes with him was when he was cutting up some hot dogs and the rocking chair kept rolling over a dog's tail everytime he attempted to cut and the dog yelped at the same time. Hilarious!

    ME!

I didn't live in Cedar Rapids (close to Marshalltown, actually) but we could get Dr. Max if the weather was just right and we put tin foil on the rabbit ears and put them on a bookshelf or something high. It was sort of hit and miss.

In conclusion, you knucklehead, "Nyuck. Nyuck. Nyuck."
