Small place with a crowd that's most out of college. Fun place the couple of times I went if you just want a place to hang and have some drinks.

    It's a small "regulars" bar.

Next to Cafe Shi in the Northern Lights area. Same side as Valentinos and Ge-Angelos.

The times I have been, there have been less than 7 people in the place. Good place to grab a few drinks and be able to talk without screaming.

How so? We had a Miller Lite and BV-7 for $7.50. Other places it would have been that for the drink alone. (and, yes, the BV-7 is an old person drink. No comment necessary.)

Re: Meeting House bar in Ames

I've been there lots of times, but wouldn't call myself a regular. It's a clean place. Drinks are expensive compared to Campustown, but similar to Main St. Nice place to go for a couple of drinks. The owner has a knack for hiring pretty hot female bartenders. A buddy of mine was the only male bartender that he ever hired (10+ years ago)...other than that all college girls. If a guy is bartending, it's the owner himself. Lots of Ames professionals are regulars...builders and business owners. Decent place to watch a Cyclone game, but their TVs aren't all that big.

Good looking bartenders... that like to serve drinks to the old regulars and pay attention to no one else because they know where the money is at. I've been in there several times when there were 4 other people in the bar... I was sitting at the bar with a friend... and had to wait for drinks.

Yeah, I guess you can't blame them for that. There's a reason they are working there instead of somewhere else. The tips are pretty good from the regulars.

I used to work up in that area. Over 90% of the times I drove by, there would be 3-4 guys outside on the "patio", all of them ALWAYS decked out in Hawk gear -- shirts, hats, car decals, license plates, etc.

I don't blame them... I just choose not to give them my money anymore.
