    Our Wildcat...

It's not a formation we run a ton of, but it seems that a couple times every game we line up in it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think A-Rob has attempted a pass out of it yet. It's not going to be effective for us if we can't throw out of it, and we should either start throwing some, or just abandon it completely. Right now, if we come out in the Wildcat, Minny might as well stack 9+ guys in the box.

    Re: Our Wildcat...

I believe the only wildcat i saw is when Money missed Hamilton in the end zone on a pass like the first game.

    Re: Our Wildcat...

This is the formation that I thought Money could (in the future now) excel in. IIRC he played QB in JUCO? As for this year, I think in short yard situations A-Rob should be able to throw a short pass vs. trying to heave it down field.

Was ARob's TD pass against Moo U a half-back toss or out of the Wildcat?

That was a great play (even though it didn't work that time around). Looking forward to seeing Money back on the field next year.

Seemed to have faded down the stretch. The teams that run it the best have the threat of throwing the ball.

Normal shotgun formation. A-Rob to Arnaud's right, one split wide to the right and two to the left.

Pocket rolled left and Haughton let his man get by him. Arnaud turned and lofted over the defender to Haughton. Only had one may to beat to get to the end zone.

Is there anything for highlights from that game available? I don't remember seeing any up on Cyclones.com

    Re: Our Wildcat...

The wildcat was run at KU on one series, but it was ran a fair amount on that drive - successfully as well. KU did nothing to stop it and we never went back to it.

I saw it on the Paul Rhoads' Show, which is still on my DVR, but other than that not sure where you could locate footage.

Don't think either play made it into the Offensive Plays of the Year video on YouTube.

    Re: Our Wildcat...

All of these succesful examples were earlier in the season. It's efficiency seemed to weaken down the stretch, in a big part (imo), due to the predictability of the plays called out of it. I think it would be more effective if we passed out of it. If we don't have a guy that can pass out of it, at this point in the season it probably won't be as effective.

I don't remember seeing the Wildcat after the KU game.

Also, a decent number of teams at both levels that run this, never or rarely ever pass out of it. IMO, being able to pass out of it is a nice-to-have, but not a necessity to be effective in the formation.
