Jon Miller & Chris on KXNO this AM

I'm a bit confused as to Jon's prediction of a very easy win for ISU against the Gophers. The 9th ranked Hawks beat them 12-0 in the last game played... so why now is an un ranked ISU supposed to clobber them???? Makes no sense at all. Wouldn't all logic suggest that you would have a score closer than 12-0?

The Hawkeyes, who have lost six of their last seven games, were given a No. 11 seed and will be involved in one of the four first-round games by virtue of being one of the last four at-large teams to make the field. “It’s not a &%#$@%* play-in game!’’ McCaffery said when a reporter phrased it that way. McCaffery then hurled a bottle of G2 into the face of the reporter stating "you #$%*&@ idiot!".

I love logic's like this. Does this also mean that Iowa State would beat Oklahoma this year since ISU beat Nebraska in Lincoln and Nebraska beat Oklahoma in Lincoln? Than, since Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State, this also mean that ISU would beat Oklahoma State, right?

Because Iowa has absolutely no offense. The game was not close at 12-0 if you watched it, but since Iowa cannot score at all, the final result was close.

This, and Herman says ISU's offense is really clicking in bowl practices!

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Re: Jon Miller & Chris on KXNO this AM

Iowa had their freshman backup QB in the game and just played not to lose. It worked for them.

If ISU had Tiller in, we might just see a score similar to 12-0.

If Stanzi had played, Iowa would have beaten Minn about 30-0.

How about just being happy that someone has confidence in us to win big rather than all the rivalry B.S. Jon Miller is a Hawk, but that doesn't automatically make him a d-bag. (He has his moments though!)

Honestly? This sets Herman up for failure in the public and media's eyes if they do not click on the field. I would think it'd be an unnecessary statement unless they're really clicking. If they aren't clicking, I'd imagine Herman talking about the U of MN defensive strengths and ignoring the ISU "timing" issues.

Perhaps Minnesota struggled badly against the read option run game this season.

ISU doesn't exactly line it up and run it straight down anyone's throats. It offers a different scheme than Iowa has in running the ball.

While I do expect to hear "coach speak" in interviews like that, I get the feeling Herman is on the level here. The reason I give more credence to it is that he was specific about what was going well. When coaches are just trying to be positive, you usually more cliche and general responses. It seems to me that Herman was more specific. Timing has been one the offenses biggest issues all year, and if that is specifically improving, that means a lot.

Well, 30-0 might be pushing it. Especially because Captain Kirk would have gone conservative at about half time. I do think they would have won more convincingly with their starting QB though.

You are exactly right. As a Hawk fan, I also think ISU wins pretty easily. The biggest reason for me is I think ISU is looking forward to the game much more than Minny. I think in most people's view, ISU really did better than expected this year and Minny did much worse. That plays into it. As has been stated just say (I think Miller is right)

Since the most recent history he has to base his prediction on is a very recent IA win, he would use that as a basis. IA played very well without Stanzi. If Minny is as bad as they were making them sound, IA's defense would of scored more than 12 points. I just don't see how you get from a 12-0 IA win to and easy ISU rout.

Re: Jon Miller & Chris on KXNO this AM

It didnt' sound as if the offense was clicking that well in Saturday's practice in AZ. Although things sounded better yesterday. Should be interesting to see what kind of improvement they've made. It seemed like the passing game was just getting rolling when AA got hurt and then it was screwed again. It was better finally against Mizzou. I hope that that trend continues and they are really clicking in the bowl. If that's the case, then I could see a 2 TD win. If not, it will be a close game and possibly a loss.
