    Strongest basketball conference?

What do you think so far.

For men's I think you just about have to put the Big 12 in the #1 spot so far with Big 10 and the SEC in contention for second.

For women's I think the Big East followed by the SEC and then the Big 12.

    The Big 12 number 1?

No it isn't. Not even close. Kansas and Texas are the only two real solid teams, with everybody else way back.

Big Ten, ACC, Big East, Big 12, Pac 10, SEC

Big Ten has MSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio State all very able to make the elite 8.

I don't follow the rest of the nation closely enough to chip in a ranking, but don't forget about Kansas State, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech. Oklahoma State is receiving votes as well.

I agree with this...big 12 is going to be average at best. oklahoma is apparently awful, ok state will be good, as well as k-state....but the rest of 'em very very average or below.

Top to bottom in every league, it kind of looks like this - not much separation among each grouping, but a lot of separation between the groupings.

    1/2) B12/ACC

    3/4) BE/B10

    5/6) P10/SEC

Big 12 no doubt. #1 and #2 removes all arguement. Besides, there are a few solid teams including Iowa State so we're not just a one two punch.

    Re: Strongest basketball conference?

women's the big 12 is about as good as it gets.. there really is only one team that is having down year is kansas state
then you have 6 teams in the top 25 and 3 others getting votes

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

There is plenty of doubt. Big 12 is not the #1 conference. Texas and KU are good. That's it.

I'll take the grouping of Wisconsin, MSU, Ohio State, Purdue, Northwestern (wow), Illinois, and Minnesota over anybody in the country.

kenpom has the Big 10 4th; Sagarin has them 5th.

    They're not that good.

    AP TOP 25
    Big 12 #1 KU, #2 Texas, #12 K State, #19 A&M, #23 Tech
Big Ten #4 Purdue, #9 MSU, #17 Ohio State (Who doesn't even have their best player now)

I think you could make and argument that the Big 12 is not #1, but with the Big Ten, if anything it'd be the Big East.

Mizzou just beat Illinois last night. Illinois is good but they are also very young.
