I have to travel to Canada for a week soon for business and was wondering what the best option is for calling home in the evening? I use Verizon and see they have coverage in Montreal (where I'm going to be staying) but I think the roaming fee is around $.70 per minute.
What other options do travelers recommend? Calling card, VOIP, etc?
Sometimes it is the people who no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.
ISU MBB: Bigger than a single person.
ISU Football: They key to expectations is not having any in the first place.
I would call Verizon and see if they offer a package deal you could do for a month. Or if you have a land line phone you could check to see what they have to offer, the only bad part about that is your wife would have to call you at the hotel. Just have to set up times to call.
You might try magic jack as a relatively cheap option, otherwise there might be cheap calling cards. Also if you have some sort of headset, I guess you could use google voice too for free as long as you have an internet connection.
