    Getting Even with United

    One way to get United's attention!! HA!


    Very amusing and a clever and imaginative comeback.


    A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3500) during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for YouTube exposing their lack of cooperation.


    The Manager responded: "Good luck with that one, pal".


    So he posted a retaliatory video on YouTube. The video has since received over 6.6 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video.



    Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal".



    Taylor Guitars sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders.

    The question has to be asked: If the guitar was worth so much to this person, and so treasured....why leave it's well-being up to airline baggage handlers?

    UPS? FedEx?

    Just saying that I wouldn't trust airline employees with something large, expensive and somewhat fragile. And if I happened to entrust them with said item I would certainly not be surprised if it got damaged.

    Admittedly, I have not flown in years. And don't plan to again anytime soon. I cannot recall if airlines allow you to purchase insurance for baggage in the event that damage is incurred.

    However, you can insure items through the standard shipping carriers.

    You have to be kidding. The airline should be able to hire workers that have brains enough not to throw luggage they know is fragile and worth quite a bit of change. We should expect more of them. Maybe he had a gig the night before he flew and had a gig where he was flying to. If he needs the guitar for both, UPS and FedEx ain't getting it there.

    Unless you forgot your jimlad, because it definitely needed to be there.

    And he would have ended up paying enough for another plane ticket. I think the point is that airlines are supposed to get you and your luggage safely from one destination to the next. Not only that but you pay extra to fly with crazy luggage like guitars, instuments, golf clubs...you should expect their respect for your property. I know if the airlines leave your at a previous location, they pay to fly it to you and to have a cabbie come bring it to you.

    I doubt they have overnight from Halifax to Nebraska.
    Edit - he could have shipped overnight with ups for roughly $800

    United and American Airlines are on my banned list for repeatedly providing extraordinarily poor customer service. If I'm buying a flight off travelocity or expedia, they do not garner consideration regardless of their price. I fly Southwest whenever possible.

    I ordered a motherboard at 9am Monday for my laptop and paid for overnight delivery. It showed up at my office on Wednesday at 11am with UPS. That wouldn't have worked very well now would it.

    I use UPS to overnight packages routinely from work and only had a delay due to very bad weather at the destination. Hell, I usually don't send them out until about 6:00pm local time and still get them to their destination by noon the next day.
