    Teams that have beaten us

    Northwestern -- 8-1 last wk AP #31 w/ 59 points, loss to #11 Butler (now #21)

UNI -- 7-1 last wk AP #52 w/ 2 points, loss to DePaul early (no ranking)

California -- 6-3 no ranking, losses to Syracuse (now #5),#15 Ohio St (now #18), and New Mex (now #19)

We didn't play well at all at California. But we could've and maybe should've won the other two games, against what are turning out to be pretty good teams.

We weren't missing starters, but key guys off the bench, Dendy and Vandy, saw little or no playing time in these losses.

Ever the optimist, I think we are still going to have a good season, and get to the Dance. It'll take some work, and the team needs to gel, but as the season goes on, I think there will be some good wins we'll build on, and finish the conference season with a flourish. Keep your chins up.

Re: Teams that have beaten us

We could lose games all year against good teams, and we will be right where we have been for the past 3 seasons. The Big 12 is too good for a team to make the tourney without beating some good teams and until this team actually wins against a good team I will remain hopeful, but skeptical.

    I'm confused.

Should we feel good or bad that ISU lost to three unranked teams.

It is important to beat good teams, but there will still be plenty of chances for that. The last 3 years we have lost to some pretty terrible teams.

I've said it a bunch, but if UNI, Northwestern, and Cal are our three worst losses we will be in good shape. As long as we beat a few good ones along the way, as you mention.

    I am always optimistic.

But, nothing you posted there changes the fact that we should have handily beat both UNI and Northwestern.

Re: Teams that have beaten us

I don't think (and the current numbers show) that the NW and UNI losses will hurt us, at least in terms of 'bad losses' for bubble teams. The thing that I'm disappointed with about those two games is that I don't think we played well.

Re: Teams that have beaten us

Hey oldman, I hope you are not as old as me! This has been my argument all along, 2 close losses to pretty good teams and 1 to the team picked to win the Pac 10, on the road. My prediction, all three will make the NCAA tourney. My maturity has also lead me to realize that logic and common sense don't count for much on internet message boards.

Re: Teams that have beaten us

I understand the argument, but as a team we haven't proved anything, we haven't beaten anyone. Until we beat a good team, close loses show me nothing to be excited for. I hope we can turn that around and finish the non-conference clean, but like I said, I'm skeptical.

Re: Teams that have beaten us

I know these are very good teams, but there was a time when ISU actually beat teams that were good. Especially at Hilton. Just saying.

If we want to make post season, we have to beat quality teams. We cant just keep saying "its ok that we lost because we lost to a good team."
