Hooters + School = No Fun

A high school choir teacher in the Phoenix area has been place on leave for taking her class to lunch at Hooters after a class outing. Supposedly one kid complained to his parents who raised a stink with the administration.

Don't they realize that the incoming swarm of Cyclone fans are big Hooters supporters?

In the not making this up category, the high school in question is the "Home of the Trojans".

Our HS band director went to hooters with us.

Seriously, what's the big deal. Sure, the waitresses are in clothes that show some skin, but any more than you'd see at the pool or the beach?

While I personally don't think this is a big deal, how big of a dolt do you need to be to think that the school district would approve?

If the teacher's reasoning was accurate, do you think the school board would approve not feeding the students?

Just for clarification, you believe the teacher in stating that the ONLY restaruant that could accomdate 40 kids is a Hooters? I have seen bus loads of kids at McDonalds a million times.

    My thoughts exactly.

How many Hooters are located in sparse areas away from other restaurants?

maybe most, I think Hooters food sucks - so I never go looking. But the few I've been to are in the midst of many restaurants.

That's the way I read it. If she is correct, and I'm not saying she is, what other options are available? Maybe there was no McDonalds....it's possible.

Re: Hooters + School = No Fun

My guess is that they were down there, she asked them where they all wanted to eat and the majority thought it woudl be funny and ironic to eat at Hooters. One kid, with push parents, complained and it got blown out of proportion.

Hooters is just a restaurant, and not a very good one at that. They even try to pass themselves off as a "family establishment". The school board is overreacting because of the complaint from parents, and that the name of the restaruant is Hooters.

If she had taken the to Big Earls Gold Mine for the lunch buffet (just makin this up), then I could see a big problem.

It's a freakin restaurant, who cares? It's not like the waitresses strip when they bring your food....(Note to self: Trademark idea for restaurant where waitresses strip when they bring your food.)

So do I have this right? The kids religion was the reason he didn't approve of the outing at Hooters? Sounds like he was alright with it until mom and dad got wind of it. The class was out singing Christmas Carols. Is this a public school? Why were they singing Christmas Carols?

My guess is the kid didn't even complain. But rather simply told the parents where they went and the parents took it from there.

I got mixed feelings on this. I agree with you, the chain sucks. They're known for one thing and it isn't their food. I really wouldn't be happy if a school took my kid there.

But at the same time, it isn't the end of the world.

Re: Hooters + School = No Fun

Let me clarify, I am not a big fan of Hooters. However, if the Hooters founder wants to donate a whole bunch of money to ISU, I am very cool with it.
Heck, put a Hooters under the south endzone if it means we get it built sooner.
