I love Knight. He's smart, opinionated and doesn't care who he offends when he knows he's right.

Re: Coach Knight' s Take on Calapari

Coach Knight may not have had the greatest interpersonal skills (okay he doesn't deal with people (morons) well), but he has always understood what the true focus of student-athlete's should be. He has one of the highest graduation rates of his players all time.

And I agree 100% with his comments about the tournament

He urged the governing body's administration to require tournament teams to submit eligibility reports, an effort to assure that players who are competing in postseason games have been attending classes and earning acceptable grades.

"Very few people know this, but a kid can play the first semester as a freshman, pass six hours of anything and play in the NCAA tournament without ever attending a class in the second semester. I don't think that's right."

Re: Coach Knight' s Take on Calapari

I don't like Knight all that much...but I do respect his views about college athletics. I just can't get past the fact that he is a bully and whines when things don't go his way. But with issues that he is not directly involved in, he certainly doesn't hide his opinion and I like that!

Love Bob Knight and college basketball is corrupt as D.C.

You're not far off, but our friends at the IOC might take umbrage with your statement. It seems they take pride in it.

Re: Coach Knight' s Take on Calapari

No doubt Knight has a great basketball mind but he could never control himself and was always so arrogant. Throwing the chair across the court, kicking Pat Knight as he sat on the bench, strangling Neil Reid... it's difficult for me to see him speaking of integrity when he showed so little respect to others...

Re: Coach Knight' s Take on Calapari

That part that bugs me a little bit has been his 40 some years of barking at officials. He always complains about them and constantly criticizes calls. Maybe he could help them out and put on the ref uniform and haul his butt up and down the court like they do. I just don't get it.

My favorite comeback for complaining about the officials is "If you think it is easy you do it" Like coaching a college team is easy and any ref could do it.

That is why I never complained about my botched carpal tunnel surgery. Because honestly, I couldn't do it myself any better. And after the first couple of years, using a hook becomes like second nature.

And all the different appliances you can hook up to that thing, it's better that way really.
