Fennelly deserves an extension and raise

IMO, Fennelly deserves an extension and raise before the heavy hitters come after him (ie. Texas, LSU, Florida). Anyone think he will go to Texas if money talks, especially with both sons graduating and one wanting to be a coach? I would think he would want his son, Billy, on his staff. They look in sync working together on the sidelines now. Texas could pack the truck up with $$$. Hope Pollard does the right thing and reworks his contract to include $$$ and an extension.

Fenelly deserves to be the next athletic director of Iowa State.

Re: Fennelly deserves an extension and raise

I would be very very very surprised if Fennelly left for more money. He has repeatedly stated he won't coach anywhere else. He won't have as much fan support anywhere else, and he just seems like the kind of guy who might value other things (community, fan support, job security) more than money. But of course I don't know, and I do think Pollard should make sure he has everything he needs.

But I would be very surprised if he followed the money.

If he was interested in the Money, I'm sure it was on the table in 2001 when he last made the Sweet 16. He's built a program here at ISU and he's said he could retire in this job.

Re: Fennelly deserves an extension and raise

the guy wants to retire here, hes not leaving until he has 3 times in a row with no post season, and i do not see that happenin any time soon

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

How about keeping him as women's basketball coach?

Hopefully, Fennelly and Pollard are both around for a long time. They're both doing great work.

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

Re: Fennelly deserves an extension and raise

I've said it once and I'll say it again... Fennelly deserves a lifetime contract here. He'd have to do a ton of losing to justify firing him and if he left I see it on his own terms.

Re: Fennelly deserves an extension and raise

He deserves a raise for getting to the second round and being a 6th seed? I love the guy as much as the next fan but the fact is it's been awhile since the ladies made a NCAA tournament run. Now if it means giving him a raise or he walks, then by all means pay the man! I've never read anything that suggested Bill was unhappy or thinking of bolting, so maybe all is good?
