    Mizzou to Big 10?

I don't see it personally. If the Big Ten is going to look for a team to hijack from another conference, I doubt it will be Missouri. Iowa State or Nebraska would be better 'candidates' if for no other reason than geography. Ia State and Nebraska are thr northernmost teams in the conference. That being said, Nebraska has too much tradition i think to leave, Iowa State i don't think the big ten would consider 'tough enough' to be in the conference. Then who would the Big 12 get to replace one who would bolt? Creighton? You know the honks at the Big 12 are not going to want to give up their championship north/south thing at the end of the year. I'd also expect the Big 12 conference to file a lawsuit to stop (or at least delay) any team from leaving for that very purpose - MONEY - the root of all evil in the college FB ranks. I think Cincinnati would be a good fit. They already have a team from Ohio in the Luckeyes... ND? forget it. those greedy Catholics don't want to share any of the money (even though, the big ten revenue sharing agreement would have done well for them the last few years of the fat@$$) in the good years, they don't want to give up their national exclusive tv contract, and they already lose to almost every big ten team they play. if they joined the conference, ND would become irrelevant in football every year, because they can't even beat Navy anymore, and most years, Michigan, MSU, Purdue whip them... so ND can't compete with the big ten. they could never let their noses down out of the air, nor take the blows to the EGO.

Interesting thoughts. I have not seen or heard this discussed anywhere.

    Re: Mizzou to Big 10?

Greedy Catholics? Hey, why you're at it please tell us about the Jews that own all the banks and the blacks that keep public housing in business. Wow!

This isn't about geography or "toughness", it is about MONEY. (which to your credit, you did allude to).

Also, is there a precedence for conferences filing lawsuits to keep teams from leaving? (I honestly don't know, but I'd like to hear of examples before believing that is a possibility.)

I wouldn't mind seeing ISU join the Big Ten given their superior TV contract, but realistically they don't add anything to the Big Ten in terms of money generation. Missouri, on the other hand, helps brings in both the St Louis and KC TV markets into the Big Ten fold.

    Re: Mizzou to Big 10?

Perhaps you should research the Big 10 rules to membership and learn that membership in the AAU is a requirement to becoming a member of the conference - which means Missouri would definitely become a member before Cincinnati would.

Notre Dame is the lone exception to this - they have the academic credentials without belonging to the AAU and have the money to make the Big 10 turn a blind eye. That being said, ND has no interest in joining, so the point is moot.

    Re: Mizzou to Big 10?

I think Missouri is the best candidate for the Big Ten in terms of geography. With Missouri they add another big media market in St. Louis and they add a state in which they currently have no teams. In Iowa State, they add a media market they already have and with Nebraska, I just don't think they will leave the Big 12.

If this happens look for a major shift in all conferences that could look something like this.

    Arkansas to Big 12
    Georgia Tech to SEC
? to ACC (who joins the ACC, my money would be on West Virginia)
    ? to Big East
I also think the Pac 10 adds two teams to correspond with Big 10 going to 12 teams (BYU and Utah to Pac 10)
    Boise State to Mountain West

Let's see, Missouri joins B10, plays rival Illinois annually. Mo leaves B12, never plays rivals KU and KSU ever again. Hmmm.

Cincinnati, and about half the Big East don't qualify.

    Re: Mizzou to Big 10?

Missouri leaves, thus taking St. Louis and KC tv markets with it to the Big Televen.

Jon Miller brought up a good point this moring. This would swipe the 4th and 5th largest tv markets from the Big XII. And yes I know once bball starts, KU gets the nod in KC.

I believe MU is also a land grant/research university which seems to be a desire for the Big Televen.

Missouri can't ever schedule non-con games with KU or KSU?
