    Best apartment complexes?

It's getting close to the time to start signing leases for next year. What's everything heard about the different apartments on campus? Likes/dislikes? Best/worst?

Wow, no way man. 9x9 bedrooms with a living room and kitchen that feel like a motel room.

It was cozy:) Plus, we had hot cheerleaders living under us and it was easy to stumble home from the bars.

FWIW, I would always always always check Craigslist for mom & pops and steer clear of MEGA-APARTMENT brokers here in town...better deals and way better service.

    Re: Best apartment complexes?

I live in Sunset View. Expensive as hell, but close to campus and reallllly nice apartments ($1,050 for 2 bed/2 bath). Sunset Beach and Beach View are the same way. Ridiculously expensive, but convenient location for an apartment if you're a college of business student. Plus, with Alpha Chi Omega across the street.....hellllllo.

In reality, the best deals in Ames are West Ames if you can stand to be away from campus. You save a TON of money, and there are equally as nice apartments out there, a lot of which are rather new. That area of Ames is slowly being built up also.

West Ames will be most likely be cheaper then those near campus and will also be nicer looking/newer. The only down side to West Ames is the location. If you don't mind driving or taking the bus, West Ames would be for you.

I loved the Celtic Place Coconino Apts. The pool was a nice perk. Hated the apartments on Westbrook. The big brick ones with the brown trim. Those landlords were aholes and tried to fine me for stealing my own microwave.

I lived in 216 Stanton, not a building name other than the Club 8 building which is now ESTAS 2 or something like that. There were only two 3 bedroom apartments in that building and we got the ground floor, awesome location to classes, bars, and fairly cheap $425/person covered everything.

Yeah, Hunziker totally raped my roommate and me of our deposit. When I called to argue the charges, they said they never got our check-in sheet of existing damage when in reality they lost it. Consequently, we had to pay for everything. They totally have you by the balls too because they already have your money and you can't get it back unless they give it to you. They don't have to have a good relationship with college students because they know you'll be gone in year or two and won't be long term tenants anyway.

    Re: Best apartment complexes?

I would complain about the house I lived in on Campus Ave, but they tore it down and built huge apartments there. Figures.

I lived in one of those buildings last year. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 parking spots, spacious. Close enough to Campus! HIGHLY recommend it!

    Re: Best apartment complexes?

It might help if you specify how many bedrooms, location, and price range.

I only lived in an apartment my last semester and this is where I lived: South Meadow Apartments "Quality Living at an Affordable Price" They are older and over by the East Hy-Vee but the 1 bedroom apartments are pretty spacious and nearly all your utilities including the heat, internet and cable were included in the pretty low rent price. It's right on the blue line for CyRide too. The owner was great, I actually only wanted a lease from May-December (as I graduated after the Fall semester) with the option to go on month to month after that which I did until March before I moved. You pay a touch more for a lease less than 1 year but she was cool enough to drop me down to regular rates after December when I went month to month since I had already paid 8 months at a higher rate.

I live in Westtowne apartments, there're pretty nice and not very pricey. The only downside is location and ****** internet.

LOL! I always wanted to ask you how you felt about the place after your thread last year. Just never got around to it, glad you love it so much out here. ICS is a *****.
