    wow thats BS

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Using coporate email to communicate about non-work related stuff is usually frowned upon at all companies. That being said, frowned upon is usually as far as it goes.

Most businesses would only use this against you if you otherwise should be fired. This is just the reason given.

Oh man, I do this all the time. That's pretty harsh if that's the only reason he was fired.

The company I work for, a partner and competitor to Fidelity, blocks access to all Fantasy Sport websites. It eliminates any conflicts or problems, and believe me, strange ones do pop up.

Haha! FFB is a daily water cooler conversation at our work. Of course were not logged in, it's just conversation...most of the time its just a couple minutes of "who did you start this week? who did you bench this week?"

Fantasy football is considered gambling. Can you look up gambling sites at your work?

I remember at a previous employer I couldn't even get to the freaking winning lottery numbers on KCCI's site, it was blocked by Websense as being a "gambling" site.

Don't be so sure. This guy wasn't on any FFB sites or even using his work email for FFB. He had one or two IMs about players and got canned.

Methinks they were looking for a reason to lay some people off. Or there is more to the story.

How is it gambling if you're not paying money? I know a lot of people that do free leagues through yahoo or espn for no reward other than bragging rights.

And believe me, when you get to mock your friends every week for a completely ridiculous reasons, you don't need to win money.

Edit: Oops, apparently I skipped over the "$20" part in the article. In that case, yes, it's gambling. But not all fantasy football should be considered as such.

    Re: Fired for Fantasy Football

I use my work email and computer for non-work related things all of the time. At the same time, though, I realize that I could lose my job for doing so and understand the potential consequences in doing so.
